Wonder what they would do with the PMAC? I guess it could be a dedicated gymnastics and/or volleyball facility? Or a basketball practice facility?

Seems pointless and a waste of otherwise valuable real estate to hold on to a vacated basketball arena. But there's already one witu the cow palace. Every campus should have 3 basketball arenas on a land locked campus.

ETA: all the downvotes in favor of keeping a 13,000 seat arena after a modern one is built. Rather than demo it and use the area for something useful. Keeping the PMAC around for....freaking office space seems delightfully stupid so yall are going to have to explain that one.

So like the Student Union of Old...are they going to lock it for game days as well?

That’s one of the potential sites. Think it’s either there or across Gourrier from Alex Box.

It makes zero sense to make a basketball specific arena.

I think it'd be neat to turn it into a multi-purpose student center with restaurants, sports bar-like environment, gaming stations, hair salons, shopping, etc. that give students a top notch gathering spot. On Football game days, a free concert venue and tailgate would be pretty awesome.

This is actually the best idea I have seen for the PMAC. I always thought "Texas Live" was the coolest thing when going to LSU games in Cowboy Stadium. Make it a place where people can go that don't have tailgates to go to.

The shell lot out by Tiger Park (softball). I can see having suites or a club section looking out toward the river.

Here are what appear to be the two major sites under consideration. Either one would involve upgrading of roadways and access in and around the facility. Two-lane Gourier would be gone.

South of the stadium in lot 400. Tear down the old one making that a big tailgate area.

Why build anywhere else. Traffic and parking aren't getting any better might as well stick the building as close to campus as possible.

Your Gourrier location is wrong. They’re eyeing the LSU Golf Course.

“needs to be where the pmac is. Demo/rebuild”

You are correct!

Moving it away from core location on campus is idiotic .. .. make it more difficult for students and destroy the campus feel…

It is being driven more by external businesses trying to tap into the LSU fan base/student financial stream than by LSU college environment people..

Will be a disaster.. pmac will slowly fall into state of disrepair.. students will make the trek when we are winning and national contenders but in odd seasons of being down will not show up ( nor fans)

Coleman Coliseum at Alabama is not in a core area of the UA campus and Bama still gets 3 to 5 thousand students a game. Also the new area proposed for Alabama is not in a core area aaof the campus. Students are capable of walking a few blocks

True. Just basing it off Zinn’s interview with WBRZ.

LINK

One of the locations on their list is LSU's 250-acre golf course off Nicholson and Gourrier.

Two locations that have already been researched and vetoed for being cost prohibitive—the PMAC and Bernie Moore track.

Here is what you whiners don't grasp. It's over. The wheels are in motion, and the train is moving quickly down the track. They are down to no more than 3 alternative sites and are already talking to developers. It will NOT under any circumstance be built at PMAC or Bernie Moore. So stop whining about it.
