Searched and didn’t see this posted.

quote:

"Where we are at right now is we have the ordinance that's pending that hopefully will get approved on March 13. At that point, we're positioned to immediately move to an RFP to start to narrow down our list of potential developers. We think we are well positioned to move this forward at a pretty aggressive pace here within the next four to five months."

Overall, Zinn says they hope to have the arena ready to host top acts in the next five years, but first they need to nail down a location for the potential 15,000+ seat venue.

"At this point, there are a few sites that are being looked at on LSU's campus and some opportunity that exists out near baseball and tennis and all of the acreage that currently exists within that space."

One of the locations on their list is LSU's 250-acre golf course off Nicholson and Gourrier.

Two locations that have already been researched and vetoed for being cost prohibitive—the PMAC and Bernie Moore track.

They are going to make this a huge flop, aren't they?

Yeah that golf course is cooked.
Nothing like having a $300 million facility right next to Tigerland section 8 housing. With that being said this is better than any other spot away from campus. Somebody will come buy out those apartments eventually.

I don’t think so. They’re going to potentially spend $400M and copy off the very successful Moody Center in Austin. And the location is great IMO.

It's going to be the most amazing venue in Louisiana, but rantards will still complain.

Ughh I don’t like that. Just keep the pmac at that point. The location can’t be beat

Golf course? May as well put it in the Quad or Parade Grounds.

Fans bitch and moan about how bad the PMAC is, LSU announces they are working on building a brand new facility, and fans bitch and moan about getting a brand new facility. Same thing is happening in the thread about the new scoreboard and sound system. Blows my mind how negative this fan base is

When they move to the new Pmac, going to assume that becomes one big parking garage?

Any actual plans to develop the space?

Not sure this will ultimately be a good deal for basketball. Was really hoping to go the route of Auburn and Ole Miss, smaller basketball specific venues. Instead we’re going the route of South Carolina, A&M and others who have larger multi-purpose arenas.

Would make sense if we are putting 15K in a night, but that is not reality with the lack of commitment shown to men’s basketball.

I think the biggest issue with this is where are the basketball teams supposed to play while this is happening? Because you know this isnt a 8 month project.

While I agree any change will not make 100% of the people 100% happy, it is a shame to see more and more facilities beyond the normal walking range of campus. LSU has a special campus that damn near was lost in terrible development.

If they build this on the golf course, they need to develop a better traffic plan than what was done for baseball. How they built all of the new facilities yet kept a two-lane, between the cow pastures, country access road is beyond me.

Demoing the PMAC is about more than just money. It's been deemed an "architectural significant" building. Something about its design makes it important. For that reason, it may be difficult to get demo permits.

With it no longer housing basketball, I think it'd be neat to turn it into a multi-purpose student center with restaurants, sports bar-like environment, gaming stations, hair salons, shopping, etc. that give students a top notch gathering spot. On Football game days, a free concert venue and tailgate would be pretty awesome.

They’re keeping it for operational support, practice, and an area for additional offices, etc.

Moving the venue away from TS does have benefits. It makes it easier for other events to happen on gameday weekends.

Build it on the golf course and surround it with a ton of parking that can be used for football and baseball.

There are people on this site who do nothing but bitch about everything - they must live miserable lives. Never happy; can never be satisfied. Most of these posters are completely irrational.

PMAC sucks!
New arena sucks!
Location sucks!
OMG- a bad apartment neighborhood is nearby!
The seating capacity sucks!

Some of you need therapy.

This is why public works never get completed, require a billion studies and cause massive outrage in La. The people hate anything that contains compromise.
