That is the big question. We can get a new outdoor track that's configured for better space utilization. Most outdoor facilities use the infield of a track for throwing events, as seen below:

We have sprint lanes for 100m and 100mh/110mh races which IMO is an absolute waste of space but does conserve the normal track so that it doesn't get totally torn up. Shotput is the only throwing event inside the track. Javelin/discus/hammer are all outside the track with weird viewing angles:


I've posted several times in the past about it, but ideally we would have something like Arkansas's new outdoor track. Don't necessarily need two sets of grandstands, but we can make a longer/shorter grandstand on the home stretch, build outward and use that space much more efficiently:

The facility includes offices, treatment room, weight room, locker room, everything. This would consolidate everything into one location and tremendously benefit the program. $20mm is the price I last heard for LSU to do it.

Carl Maddox can easily convert into a basketball/volleyball practice facility if they move asap.

Here's how the Moody center agreement works. Private money pitched in and keeps profits from the live shows, while Texas owns the land and exclusive use of the dates they use it. The Moody cost $375 million to build with a 15,000 capacity. However they block off the top section for basketball which makes it a much more intimate setting of 10,000 capacity.

I love the Moody center and I'm glad Woodward has been around to tour it. The live calendar has stayed full and it could be that way in Baton Rouge also, while also having a great experience for the fans on gameday.

I would love for LSU to also develop a partnership to keep the events flowing in. A new arena built right could really be beneficial to Baton Rouge and the region.

Hopefully Woodward follows the blueprint of other recently built arenas and gets LSU a wonderful new facility.

Louisiana doesn’t like P3 deals for huge needs like toll roads, you expect the politicians to sign off on a P3 for an arena?

As far as location… I love the idea of a facility with convention halls, hotels, restaurants, etc, but where is there y room for that with parking and traffic flow, etc?

This would be awesome if they can do this but it’s going to require the state to start acting not like retards.

You are talking out of your arse. The moody is 15k, but they don't use the upper deck for all basketball games at this point. With the upper deck and floor seating for a center stage show like harry styles it was over 16k.

The spurs also played a couple of games there with 16k. I believe they have opened the upper deck for a couple of early sellout Texas games, and we should do the same at LSU.

This is the job of the private equity firm. They would handle marketing, concerts, etc. since they receive the revenue from it.

This morning Jordy mentioned that he heard that they may keep the PMAC for gymnastics, and would use it as a practice facility for basketball, among other sports. Then there'd be a corridor that'd connect to this new facility.
