his morning Jordy mentioned that he heard that they may keep the PMAC for gymnastics, and would use it as a practice facility for basketball, among other sports. Then there'd be a corridor that'd connect to this new facility.
So they're 100% putting the new arena where the track stadium is now then...

It’s already bogged down in politics if the city counsel is involved. Duh.

Yep. Someone on On3 brought up a possible road block regarding the wind levels and moving the outdoor track to Gourrier so I think that’s something they’re trying to work through as well.

This would be the biggest red flag for me as a private investor. Baton Rouge is stone cold dead as concert tour stop.
That's why the below part is critical to make a partnership work. Live Nation and C3 can book the shows.
quote:
Oak View Group, along with partners Live Nation and C3 Presents, will have the right to hold events on the other days.[6]
Baton Rouge is dead as a concert stop because there is no good venue to play. People don't remember but when the Pmac opened they hosted lots of the biggest acts of the day like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Bob Seger, etc. And that was before Live shows were so critical. Nowadays Artists make their money from doing Live shows not record deals.
If LSU builds it with a good partner it would become a natural stop for many artist and comedians.
I know Austin is a different town, but before the Moody Center was built a lot of the acts would pass over Austin on their way to play San Antonio, Dallas or Houston. Now with the new building they are stopping by for shows here.
Baton Rouge and LSUcould book some solid shows, like they have in the past, if they build a good arena and have a good partner.

So you’re actually going to go out on a limb and suggest that because Dale Brown and Sue Gunter could have their names associated with a facility despite never winning a natty, that another LSU coach who actually wins one or more will also be recognized?
Hot take.

Im fine with LSU dumping M&W’s track and field. That’s the future of collegiate athletics anyway. Dump the programs and put the new basketball arena there.

Or we could just build a new track?

Just some inside baseball, the Baton Rouge Zoo has an off-exhibit enclosure that was built to house Mike during his last rebuild. It is a really nice enclosure, surrounded by woods, in the back area at the zoo. It has been used most recently to house our big cats during the recent construction. However, the exhibit is definitely ready if Mike needs to come visit while the arena is built/renovated.

Actually agree with this. PMAC will still be a thing and the city has a hand in the new arena, so it wouldn’t really make sense to name the new place “PMAC 2.0”
