I think offense and defense played complementary football yesterday. Our punt game did not help out.

They threw the ball on first down on the final offensive drive.

Thats not conservative.

Kelly knows what he has and my only gripe was not taking the points at the end of the half. That alone would have changed everything last night in the second half being up two scores.

Agree with that point too.

I thought the punting was fine until the last one that we needed the most. We had one that went out of bounds arund the 15, one that PJ (who played solid game) dropped on the 2 yard line, and one touchback. The killer was our last one when the whole coverage team is on the right side, the punter rolls right and then kicks the damn thing to the middle of the field. Kick it out of bounds to the right and we're gravy. Instead it gave them a decent return and the ball at midfield.

i don't blame them for trying to burn clock...

but I think they could have pushed the ball down the field at least once....

BK did have some flubs last night. Pre halftime BS, Calling a timeout when we had stopped them on 4th down, going ultra conservative to almost cost us the game. He can get better by rewatching game as well.

When you have a defense that played like LSU did last night, you can do that. BTW, those plays were working all night!

In previous years, we went conservative when we knew our defense couldn’t stop a high school team. Last night our defense was dominating. Why take unnecessary risks?

Idk. That last series was set back with penalty. Then we went to a high pass catch play that had been working all night for us. Then we kept it on the ground to run clock (could you imagine an incomplete, the melt from the board?), then another high completion percentage throw.

Definitely moderate playcalling. I wouldn't say it was aggressive nor particularly conservative.

Hard to find much negative about the way we played last night but a couple of those pass plays late were confusing. I don’t like throwing to the sideline 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage or the 2 yard pass on the 3rd and 12. Play calling late gave their heralded qb oppurtunities. Thank goodness our defense played to finish lights out from start to finish.

Up by 7 late, on the road, defense playing lights out......that's called successful clock management. As compared to some of Miles' & O's unsuccessful play calling late.

I really believe you play to win . Play calling at the end was too conservative . Back in the day , Joe Paterno was famous for this . PSU would be ahead by 7 and he would never pass the ball , just run … and lose the game .
It is one thing if you have less than 2 minutes left . Another thing with over 5 minutes left and a pretty good QB in Klubnick .

Well in the 2nd half they had no answer for our offense either. Its not like we NEEDED to get another TD. Just a few 1st downs. I mean why risk throwing the ball if you are just going to throw it behind the line, or over the middle 2 yards off scrimmage? Was just bad.

We won and I am thankful, but the reason so many LSU fans hate that aspect is from the years of watching that same exact scenario play out. We just dont have a good track record of doing that.

These types of decisions, IMO, are what bite you in the arse at some point.

I don’t think people understand that we were very creative. What you think is conservative is just calling quicker shorter passes to get the ball out faster so this new OLine doesn’t get swallowed by these Clemson All Americans.

I disagree. "Throwing" the ball 1-2 yards off scrimmage over the middle was highly suspect.

He was playing the clock, trying to give Clemson limited time to make a comeback That's textbook football.

We actually got too aggressive and tried to take a shot down the field. It wasn’t open and Nuss made an awful decision and threw the ball backwards. But don’t let facts get in the way of your BS narrative.
