The team that came closest to pulling it off against us in 2019 was fricking Auburn.

They looked the best against LSU. They were the only team to kind of control that offense. BUT…they never had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to tie or take the lead.

I think we have cohesiveness and that’s never going to be a stat. These guys bought in, and I don’t know if the same is true with Bama. I think we beat Bama and Texas; we’re improving every week.

This is the only response that I see in this thread worth a damn. I was there in 2024 and saw Alabama smash LSU into the field.

This is a grudge match every year and recent history favors Alabama. You can throw records out the window. LSU can win I have no doubt but they could also get beat again (bad) if they don't show up and execute.

That 2024 game was ugly and Deboer was coaching that game too. Kelly was coaching but doesnt change the fact that they came to Baton Rouge and embarrassed us.

Down vote away but dont act like the game is over before its played.

Auburn got lucky with a couple of turnovers in the red zone and forcing LSU to kick field goals.

Joe Burrow and company ran up over 500 yards on Auburn. It just didn't show up on the scoreboard. Auburn didn't exactly shut them down.

But, yeah, it was the closest game that year.

Wrong!! The Gumps must match OUR intensity if they want to beat the Fighting Tigers.

I mean, Coach Kiffin, after all was Coach Saban's offensive coordinator and learned a lot from him about being intense and bringing it to the other team when required. LSU's in good hands.

Tell me you haven't watched a Bama game all year, without telling me you haven't watched a Bama game all year.

Um ok whatever. I have seen enough to know that you're setting yourself up for misery if LSU doesn't show up ready to fight that day. Alabama will likely be the Alabama that seems to bring out the worst in LSU. Were you there the last time we played them in Baton Rouge? We looked like we couldn't beat Rice that night. Just show up mentally prepared to win that day is all I'm saying.

I didn't think that, though I saw what I thought was the makings of that in the future. I think that team still retained a lot of Saban's attitude, and I also think I see that waning each year.

That doesn't mean it won't be a dogfight; it's the SEC, and they are still Bama. But in my head, I can see at least 2 or 3 games that Bama won with Saban vs. Miles that would probably have gone the other way if it had been DeBoer. I could be wrong; speculation is never really provable. Those games just felt like they willed their way to winning. Say what you want about Miles, but that really did not happen to his teams much outside of Saban.

We can win this one, whether we do or not will come down to execution, as it usually does.

We have always had enough talent to compete with Bama minus a couple people here and there.

We just were out coached for 17 years.

Things have changed and we are the Program on the rise.

45-24 LSU.

Lane wants nothing more than to embarrass this Bama team and make a statement.

3 games ago, I didn't think we had much of a chance against Bama or Texas. Now with both being home games, if LSU plays like they did last week, which is what I really expected all year, I will be very very surprised if we lose to either of them. This team is maturing quickly, and if Weeks come back for Bama healthy and hungry, I think LSU can run the table, with the only possible hiccup being Tenn, and that is only because we haven't played our best in away games until last week. We will have to play like that again, and we now know we are capable.

That game was not as close as the score indicated.

It was that close..because the LSU defense was terrible in the second half. It took some great efforts by the LSU offense to keep Alabama at bay.

Alabama scored TDs on its final 4 possessions. Despite what LSU did in the first half, it was a 6 point game with 11 minutes to go in the 4th (33-27). LSU's offense had stalled somewhat with a fumble on its first 2nd half possession and punt on the second possession. LSU was in danger of doing so again if CEH doesn't make the play of the game, maybe the play of the season, by converting a 3rd and 10 through sheer will and determination. That game could have turned out much differently without that play because Aranda's defense wasn't going to get a stop. Hell, the defense could not even keep Alabama from scoring on one GD play up 46-34 with less than 2:00 to go. Jefferson made a hell of a catch on a pretty good onside kick after that.

recent history favors Alabama

Let’s be honest. Except for a brief time when Saban was at LSU and the early Miles years, the entire history of the series favors Bama…… by a lot

I think we have the more complete team when we play our A game, but worse Bama teams have left Tiger Stadium with a win

We have always had enough talent to compete with Bama minus a couple people here and there.

Those people tended to be at QB and the offensive line. That’s a lot of important people. We were not just outcoached in Xs and Os; we were outcoached in recruiting.

From the 2010 through 2018 NFL Drafts, inclusive, Alabama had 12 offensive linemen drafted, compared with 6 from LSU. Twice as many.

Here is a list of other positions. I forgot linebacker, but I’m fairly confident that LSU and Bama were similar at linebacker.

Position Alabama LSU
Quarterback 2 2
Defensive back 16 15
Wide receiver 5 9
Defensive line 15 12
Total 38 38

LSU was weak on the offensive line, compared to Bama, during the Saban/Miles years. Everywhere else looks comparable. However, Bama was better at QB even though this looks comparable. Two drafted is just too small of a sample.

All of this is per ChatGPT, BTW.
