Does Florida beat Tennessee yesterday if it doesn’t have that tough game week 1?
Iron sharpens iron. And having a threatening opponent can result in a lot of quality practice and prep in the fall camp.
My point is that it could have worked out in the other way. When your premise is based on losing that first tough game, obviously every other option seems preferable.

We can still schedule quality OOC opponents...just not in week 1
So you’d schedule a tough game where we play Army or Georgia state this year? Besides the impracticality given that power five teams will be in the heart of their league schedule and won’t want to do it, you want to risk a loss or a grueling win that beats up that late?
So dumb

With the playoff expanding to 12 teams, losing week 1 to a good team wont be nearly as bad as it is now. They are going to keep scheduling these games.

That doesn't give you the extra regular season game. Presumably HI could go on the road for their extra game but I don't see why they would forgo an extra home game.

Only going to Hawaii or out of the country gives you the extra home game. Otherwise, you have an open date when you would have had an OOC game, probably a cupcake game.
So like last season when FSU played Duquesne, they had 2 open dates and only played 12 games.

BK won opening weekend games against Fla. State at ND. We just hit a buzzsaw this year. It happens. Ohio State lost early to Va. Tech several years ago and rebounded to win the Playoffs.

Kelly has a 10-year contract so he should be able to get it right one of these days
When do y’all think these games were scheduled? And who do you think does the scheduling?

Scheduling great opponents week 1 is beyond stupid.
I don't hear FSU complaining.

12 team playoff will alleviate much of your angst. I love the big openers. Keepem coming.

Lol, ok Karen!
I think its already been established that BKelly was not involved in the scheduling of FSU since it got set in 2020 after our Natty with Coach O etc.
But go ahead and find more things to cry about!

We can't keep punting early games because our coaching staff doesn't want to sell out and prepare our team for week 1 against the specific opponent.
BKelly didnt want to?
He set this up while at Notre Dame huh, interesting…..

Or at least a week zero game.

It’s nice to see that you’re still the second worst poster on TD.

Or you get a little too cocky thinking you're better than you actually are and then the big boys show up and then things start downhill.

As long as our 'Mensa' scheduling guru V. Ausberry is in charge of screwing up scheduling...I have little/no faith in LSU having ANY scheduling 'advantages' ! WHO on earth f$%^* up TWICE in a row regarding week zero games...HOW does he still have a position of authority at LSU ? Even with his title 9 problems/issues...does he have ALL the naked photos of EVERYBODY ? Alum/race privilege ? What is it ?

We’ve scheduled many, many tough opponents week 1.

Why? The playoff expansion to 12-games next season kind of makes it moot.
If the team can’t rebound from a tough opening week loss, to be make a 12-team playoff then making the playoff would also be moot.

It doesn't matter.
After a certain level (top 50-50 or so) they're all the same for an elite team. You're going to be pulling punches in the 3rd regardless.
