I disagree. By playing a tough opponent you get to see where you are, and give your team a reality check.

LSU lost to FSU because of defensive miscommunication and the players not trusting one another. They seem to have fixed that before SEC play began. If they had started off playing NSU, would they have even realized the issues?

Les fricking Miles had little trouble taking on and beating quality opponents to start off the season.

Perhaps Brian Kelly can just do a better job of coaching to get the team ready to play.

Disagree given the 12 team playoff. If we are not a champion and are looking for one of the 6 remaining spots, it will matter more that we lost close to one of the five champions than if we beat some cupcake once folks start splitting hairs.

No it won’t. You’re in the SEC and you’re LSU. You’ll get the benefit of the doubt over almost anyone with a similar record.

Record will matter more than anything. No one will care about anything but did you have more wins than other teams.

Les Miles sold out in these games.

Kelly will not. He wants to build the team over the year, which means we will, by default, be inferior earlier on.

Again, this is effectively conceding a loss in most years.

How is that +EV?

Did you see the 1st half v. Grambling?

Who cares.

Win more games.

You’re on the SEC. You’ll get those games regardless. You don’t need to schedule them.

Have you missed the first game the past two years? I’ve heard this song and dance

So how do you explain A&M last year? Tennessee? Georgia?

We should schedule a week zero game like other teams have done to us. Huge advantage.

There aren't that many spots available for week 0 games. Either play @HI or play someone who plays @HI. I guess the extra game allows HI to play seven home games so that makes eight available opponents for week 0? And some of those western teams seem to always be playing regular season games on conference championship weekends. Is that the mirror of the week 0 game? I'm not sure if playing abroad like ND in Ireland gains you an extra game. I'm thinking it doesn't.

Especially when the teams are all out passing attack aggressive and play to win instead of playing not to lose.

A 12 team playoff is going to put a premium on big wins more than a spotless record. There'll be plenty of two loss teams getting in

Did you mean to post this in a Jayden Daniels/Nuss Buss thread?

With a 12 team playoff next year you can certainly afford an opening game loss, SFP.

It will probably change, but in 25 we’re scheduled to be on the road vs. Clemson, UGA, and Alabama

FSU was better in the second half. We beat MSU, they are nowhere near FSU. We still have a ton of issues but it looks like so does most of the SEC.

People keep saying this but I don't know if this is true.

Again, we still have 11 more games and an SEC schedule. Most teams we are competing against don't even have that to deal with.

We have Bama, UGA, and usually 1 upstart SEC team who will be playoff caliber.

Then people are ignoring the conglomeration that is the Big10 and how much the media is going to promote their teams with similar win totals.

Almost positive all of those contracts were signed before we hired Kelly.
