1995 Auburn game in TS. That game, for me was important, because it put LSU back on the map after 5 years of bad teams. Faulk signing was the most important recruit in LSU history. He put the football program on the map, which is now modern day college football. He got the ball rolling, IMO. Say what you want about Dinardo, but he definitely deserves alot of credit.

People forget that 2002 UF beat down in the swamp. They started to click. Easlily could have put up 50 on those bastards, because UF quit in the 4th quarter. Too bad Mauck was left in the game and got hurt. I've always wondered how different the season would have been. They were playing as good as anyone. Paved the way to 2003.

1972 LSU-Ole Miss with two plays being run in 4 seconds culminating in Jones to Davis and Rusty Jackson making the PAT for the win!

I was at the game. At the time it was a highly anticipated top 10 matchup. College Gameday was on campus. I've always thought JHS doesn't get the credit it deserves in terms of tough road venues. It was loud that night. Lee pissed his pants in the first half after coming in, but looked like LSU's QB of the future in the second half. Auburn's QB coach was Steve Ensminger.
It was a fun game that felt like a huge win at the time. Auburn would go 5-7 that year and Tuberville would be fired. It was LSU's worst season under Les.
It seems crazy to think about it now, but at that time Auburn was the big SEC west battle for LSU. Not Alabama. Of course, that season was the first year Saban brought Alabama back to being a powerhouse.

These games were highly intense because of the perceived stakes at hand. Whether the teams involved went on to do anything has nothing to do with the fact that they were both awesome environments and games that went down to the wire.

LSU was 4-1 going into Florida game and the 4 wins weren't very impressive (The Citadel, Mississippi State, Miami (OH), ULL). Still, the arse kicking was shocking in light of how often and bad Florida kicked LSU's arse for over a decade.
In hindsight though, I'm not really sure how good that LSU team would have been even with Mauck who, himself, wasn't exactly lighting up the stat-sheet. Before the Florida game he was a sub. 50% passer averaging 125 passing yards per game.
Most likely LSU still loses to Auburn and Alabama that year to go, at best, 9-3. As it stands, looking back LSU's 8-4 record was almost a minor miracle. Two of the three wins after Mauck was hurt were the Bluegrass Miracle and a one point win over a mediocre Ole Miss team. Even wilder was the fact LSU was STILL in line to win the SEC West in the game vs. Arkansas. Of course, the football gods enacted revenge that day for LSU's miracle win at Kentucky

Yeah, I'm definitely white-washing that a bit. It was just fun coming off 4-7 and 3-8 seasons in 98/99 and the winning the Peach Bowl in 2000, SECCG and Sugar Bowl in 2001 and starting 2002 with a 6-1 record. So having Roy Williams destroy us in the Cotton Bowl is definitely on Mauck getting injured @UF.

The win over S Car when they came to Tiger Stadium, ranked in Top5, day game, got their arse kicked, made Steve Spurrier retire, and the SC QB said it was so loud on the field that he could not SEE the signals from his sideline because his eyeballs were vibrating…
