I was there chunking oranges with everyone else! Best night ever in Tiger Stadium. It was a great time to be a Tiger!
Don’t get me wrong a lot better stuff happened since then, but it was a drunken bourbon infused fog with a waft of orange peel in the air. You could feel the victory before the kickoff.
Of course they lose 21-20 in the Orange Bowl to Nebraska, but that night was like bottled lightning.

I was there as a freshman in the student section. The aftermath was awesome. First oranges thrown on the field. Then stadium seats.
Then saw a student stalk a cop the entire length of the field and pelt him with an orange in the back of the head. Then saw a bunch of cops chase him and tackle him right in front of me in the end zone. Then beat the ever loving shite out of him.
As I left, I saw them loading the bloody mess left of him into an ambulance. What a time to be alive.

I was there for that. One of my first vivid memories of Tiger Stadium as a kid.

Now, 3/4’s of the fan base thinks it’s too ‘traumatic’ for the real tiger to roll around the field before the game. Man have we gotten soft as a society or what?

You're correct. I was there and my date only drank White Russians. I had to bring in milk, Kahlua, and vodka. And, a bag of oranges. First and last date with her. Didn't get any either. Lol
