I was there in student section on the 50 yard line. Students could sit on the 50 yard line back in those days if you arrived early and the tickets were free.
Great butt kicking of a game. Threw a few oranges.

My JR year. One of the darnedest games I've ever attended. That was a good Florida State team, too. Not great, but pretty darn good. And that night we just beat the socks off of them.

I was in the North end zone that night. The guy in the Seminole costume was so well done I initially thought it was the actual FSU mascot.

It was funny.

Mark Jeffers was the best Mike the Tiger ever. Also got punished by the league for going on the basketball court with a refrees shirt and a white cane

I was the there with my "now" wife! LSU Class of 84

Points:

Security cared less about the oranges. Let us bring bags into the student section.

Mike was great at antics like that - i.e. dropping from PMAC ceiling, coming out of a coffin in pregame before Ole Miss on Halloween.

Tiger fans didn't originally realize that the Seminole was a ploy. We thought it was FSU's real mascot. That made it all the better, but it didn't take long to catch on.

After the game, we went down on the field. I picked up this Seminoles head band with feathers and Tim Joiner's hip pad from LSU bench. He sustained a hip pointer in the game. LSU students in stands got angry at LSU students on field who were throwing oranges back up into stands. At that point, students in stands started throwing the old portable seats on the field (tan backing, red frame). At that point, we exited the south end zone. Sh** got crazy!

I remember that sitting inbthebstudent section...my freshman year. Crowd went nuts when Mike had Nole Chief down on the ground. The night it rained oranges. Jerry Stovall was coach.

Holy shite

That would never be allowed today. I feel like I’ve been deprived of something special.

What a game. My freshman year. All you had to do was show your student ID. No tickets or anything to get in the student section. And they didn’t frisk you like they did in later years. As long as you didn’t bring glass n the stadium they didn’t care. So we used to walk in with 2 liters of “Sprite”. It went downhill from there.

this is correct. As long as no glass, you could walk in with anything. We brought plastic milk jugs of booze, no kidding.

And I was there that night. One of the most unique and memorable games in Tiger Stadium history.

LSU won and went on to play in the Orange Bowl.

Saw it from the South EZ. I thought it was real. The place went nuts when that scalp came off. Great memories.
