Yet Miami keeps doing fricking flea flickers and putting the game on Beck instead of just running the ball.

Is Fire

(Edited as Indidnt realize fire emojis didn’t convey)
Is Grant Chadwick out of eligibility, or did he leave too?

I think it is because he has a bit of an odd/acerbic personality plus a degree of stubbornness. He's not an overly enthusiastic guy and has kind of a "you either care for me or not, I don't give a shite" attitude.

If that is the case, then why has his staff followed him across all of his stops? He has the same OC, DC, and almost all other assistants since his days at IUPUI. So, clearly the right people find him likeable, regardless of the persona he gives off to the media.

He has been asked at least 10,000 times how he has been successful at Indiana. So, yeah, he's probably sick of it and is giving dickish answers to the fricking media who can't seem to come to grips with the fact he is a good coach with a good system that didn't follow the traditional path.

Way too many times last year we went for a suicide blitz on 3rd down with zero contain against a mobile QB and got absolutely torched for it. Happened over and over again and we never really adjusted.

I agree. And was furious when we did this against Vandy and Marcel Reed.

I like the structure we used to get the final sack against Clemson. I think we rushed 3, maybe 4, with the ends getting upfield to make the QB rise up in the pocket, and we have TWO spies waiting to gobble him up so he can just speed to an open side of the field.

You could keep numbers in the backfield by rushing 3 and having 2 spies to help contain the QB. That also helps with backs slipping out into the flat if they stay in for protection.

Remember the SNL skit with Jerry Seinfeld when he was the host of a Jeapordy like show, and the clue was "Count Chocula", and the answer given by the guest was "are we supposed to be afraid of this guy?!"

I think right now the favorite has to be in the OSU/UGA side of the bracket with a mixture of talent and coaches having done it before

The experience factor is a good point, Buckeye.

I will say IU and Texas Tech have fantastic defenses. They are schematically sound and have good players also. Both will be tough to score against, and defense travels in post season.

I've watched all IU games this year...they are legit and can beat everyone. Losing the DE Daly is huge, that guy was their best disruptor on DLine and would routinely win 1:1's.
TigerChief - why would the weakside safety need to push to the middle of the field?

Seems this play was a misread by that safety (#10) because the side of the field with the overload seemed to be defended with numbers, particularly if they were in zone coverage.

Both a linebacker and safety on that weakside should have had responsibility for the back coming out for a pass.

I noticed Destyn Hill getting more snaps as the season wore on. Don't recall any catches though.

WR is one of those positions where freshmen can make an impact, so it really depends on if the Andersons come back. We might only need 2 from the portal.

False. Mendoza won't be able to navigate the pocket like he did against OSU. He is slow

False. He won't need to. They can run the ball very effectively and are very efficient in the pass game. They are among the fastest in the nation at getting the ball out of the QBs hands.

But, their defense is really their best side of the ball. They play so smart and are always in the right spot. Oregon and OSU both have excellent playmakers and IU neutralized both of them. And neither ran the ball...at all.

I think Georgia is the best team based on the eye, their results and how battle tested they are. Other than UGa....IU can beat any other SEC team.

I think this is a fantastic idea. And, it doesn't elongate the season any.

Wow - that has to be a mistake, right? Stein is going to control that offense anyways.
What I'd be curious about is how each team determines "value" - the algorithms they use to deduce how much money a player is worth. I'm sure depending upon the system, that value calculation is very different for speed vs. size vs. smarts and instincts, etc.

Which is what makes this so interesting to me. that is why this could be very different from school to school and team to team in pro sports because of what they value.

I looked at the GM's in pro football and basketball and more than 50% at the time I did the math were not athletes...they were business, economics, law majors. So, with non-athletes making the decisions they must have ways to or ideas on how to calculate value, just like they indicated in moneyball.
It's great. My son is in school getting a business degree with a minor in Sports Management to try to go this route. I wish this was an option when I was in college. Now there are exponentially more GM jobs than just in pro sports.
I love Bryant Haines but don't think he'll leave IU for a lateral move. He's been with Coach Cig for 10 years now.
Did we pursue Garrett and lose out to e Miss or did LSU not offer?

The defense and rebounding are my biggest concerns so far.

I understand why we switch on screens, but it seems teams are picking up on that and then getting a big on a quick guard which then allows dribble penetration which is leading to kick outs and open 3's. And, it is putting smaller players on bigger players under the boards leading to offensive rebounds.

Maybe McMahon is saving some defensive looks, but we need to find alternate ways to defend if we are going to ask Robert Miller to defend a guard on the perimeter.

I'd also love for Jalen Reed and Miller to become more physical. You are freaking 6'10". Act like it!

2-guard remains my biggest concern. We don't really have a good one out of Mackinnon, King or Carter.
