What was Nick Saban's record prior to LSU? Let's see how we can use that to compare to CoachMc.

Less than two seasons later he paid him $16M to go away, along with an additional several million to cut ties with the staff.

Now he is hiring them back. He kept the OL Coach, Davis, rehired, Baker, and Raymond.

It's gonna be WORSE for you (and me), when Wade gets hired at a Louisville or Memphis, stays 20+ years and wins a title or two. When it should have been at LSU!!!!

Hannagrif said on the radio that MM has been turning down these resources as much as possible. He seems to be trying to use old tactics for recruiting and he'll fall behind if he doesn't embrace help and fundraising

This ridiculous false narrative that a head coach would turn down money for the program has been going around the last few days and has been debunked by an actual booster that posts here. Seems like a stupid rumor put out by Will Wade lovers

What does Wade going anywhere have to do with Mcmahon? You guys are a psychotherapists dream. Mcmahon didn't fire Wade. I'm not sure if you are just mentally unstable or incredibly stupid. Possibly both. There are free mental health clinics out there.

Which one are you in?

Btw, what post were you responding to? I was easily poking fun at Jim posting Bruce Pearl's record at Auburn as some attempt to correlate with CoachMc, which is complete nonsense.

He’s also building a mansion in my neighborhood. He’s in for the long haul.

Better build quick so he can at least enjoy it for a few months. Our fanbase is about to run him off during/after next season if he doesnt make a deep run into the tourney.

It’s going to take him a good five years to clean up the mess left by Wade.
basketball doesn't take years to turn around. It's a small roster and you only need one stud with other good role players to be very good.

A coach can turn around a basketball program in one year.

Is Wade coaching in the tournament or is he suspended like he was at LSU?

No problem with McMahon as a coach. He needs to step it up as a recruiter.

This is constantly repeated, yet there is really no context. Is there really a strong basis to say he is a "good coach". Or is that just oft-repeated groupthink? For two years, including this year, LSU's offensive/defensive efficiency numbers have been pretty bad. LSU is approximately 100 in BOTH categories. That's not good, at all.

The response is always "well, that's because he doesn't have any/many good players". But are those players really that bad compared to others? Or are they comparable to a lot of other teams but struggling under poor coaching.

Todd Golden is in his second year at Florida. They are 24-11 (11-7) and just lost in the SEC Tournament Final ahead of getting a 7 seed in this week's NCAA Tournament.

Ahead of this season Florida lost nine (9) players to graduation/transfer/early departure. He brought in eight new players. Six transfers. Two HS signees. Those transfers were from UC Riverside, Iona, Marshall, Seton Hall, Yale, San Francisco. Not exactly powerhouse programs. The biggest headliner was Walter Clayton, Jr. from Iona who was the conf. player of the year in the MAAC. For those who value such things Florida's 6 man transfer class was ranked #12. For comparison, LSU's 6 man class was ranked #15. And that included a couple of guys (Cook and Stewart) who were first team all conference performers at their prior schools. If we go back two years we see that Florida's transfer class was ranked #9. LSU's was ranked #11.

On the HS recruiting front Florida's two signees were ranked 185 and 214 nationally (both 3 stars). Compare that to LSU's two man class who were rated 97 (Chest) and 119 (Williams) nationally. Florida's new additions were stacked (in part) on Golden's first HS signing class. Riley Kugel (56 nationally) and Denzel Aberdeen (187 nationally). Now, compare that class to McMahon's first class: Ward (41), Reed (77), Phillips (159).

On the surface it's really hard to argue Golden has done a better job of recruiting than McMahon. In fact, you could make a strong argument McMahon has done a better job of recruiting. However, the W/L record comparison is very decidedly in favor of Golden over the past two seasons:

Golden: 40-28 (20-16)
McMahon 31-35 (11-25)

So is it an issue of Golden's recruits being significantly underrated while McMahon's were significantly overrated? Or is it maybe a matter of one HC getting a hell of a lot more production than the other HC out of comparable talent?

All you Pump Nuts were defiantly claiming that both Dumbo (Miles) and Shrimpy (Orgeron) "Weren't going Anywhere" not long before they got the Ax.

MM has one more season at LSU to turn it all around and the fanbase will decide after next season if it's time for him to exit or not......

Seems like there is always someone on here saying so-and-so-crappy-coach “will be here as long as as they want to be so get used to it”…next thing you know they’re getting canned. It happened with Miles. It happened with Orgeron. It happened with Mainieri. Hell, some said it about Wade. I know it was said about Wade’s predecessors. Now they’re all gone. An SEC school with LSU’s revenue expectations can’t sit on a loser for very long.

I'm of the opinion that it is the latter, not the former. Which makes this whole Mcmahon experiment disappointing up to this point. When Mcmahon was brought in, he did not have the reputation of a great recruiter, his reputation was that he could supposedly identify underrated players, develop them, and get the most out of them. And yet, at least in my opinion, that has been one of his biggest shortcoming so far
