McMahon is a white hat nice guy the university hired to get the media, the NCAA, and the blue bloods to back off LSU and its maligned reputation.

When the powers that be have determined that the school’s penance has been fulfilled, a new coach will be hired for LSU to occasionally make the big dance.

Like when we hired Van Chancellor since he was the total opposite of Pokey.

I don't know that he's the long term answer, but people on here thinking he's gonna be fired next spring are typical internet idiots

There are like 2 people MAX that think he's going to get fired. Stop with this nonsense. He is only getting fired next year if he fricks an LSU admin, he goes 0-18 in conference, or he hits a player. McMahon is a good dude so 2 of those are out of the question.

He's getting two more seasons minimum. I would wager three unless we win 12 games or less both seasons.

Does not mean he is above criticism. He's making $2.7 million next season. Questions should be asked. Constructive criticism does not mean you want someone fired.

Alot of people are rightly still concerned over his clean cut let's not get in hard and dirty recruiting battles image especially considering that the popular old coach did just that with the lack of high level resources available to the basketball program

I disagree.

You can say a lot of things about Woodward. But one thing you can't say is he is unwilling to quickly cut bait with an underperforming HC. Even if it is expensive to do so.

After 2019 he gave Orgeron a big raise and extension. Less than two seasons later he paid him $16M to go away, along with an additional several million to cut ties with the staff.

In 2017 Mainieri took the baseball team to the CWS finals. In 2019 (Woodward's first year on the job) LSU went to a Super Regional. The 2020 season didn't start out great. But it was cancelled really early. By 2021 fans were getting restless with Mainieri's performance so he decided to "retire". You can believe that if you want, but Mainieri was being nudged out.

After 2022 Woodward agreed to an extension and raise for Matt House...even though House still had two years left on his original contract. One disasterous season later and he agreed to buyout the remainder of the contract.

It was ALWAYS highly unlikely McMahon was going to be fired after this season...regardless of the record. But I promise you the AD is aware of the apathy towards the program. LSU had 2,200 people show up for a "post-season" game last night (and that is probably paid attendance) in an arena that holds 13,500! There is unlikely to be much excitement surrounding the program going into next season. So you can expect small crowds once more until McMahon wins. Even a season similar to the one we just had is not going to move the needle much in terms of support. So if by the end of year 3 the best you can do is "celebrating" a NIT game with 2k people in attendance I think Woodward will have no choice but to consider making a change because the program will be on a path to nowhere. Not a particularly great place to be when you're about to start trying to market a new $300M arena. We as basketball fans might be excited for a new area. But I'm betting much of the general public would think "WTF is LSU spending $300M to build a new arena for a bad basketball program". That will be out of context. But that will be the prevailing thought.

LOL. He will not be fired after next season. It will depend where he ends up but even then he probably gets 2 years. I don't understand why that is so difficult to understand. Doesn't matter whether you support him or not. This ain't football and it ain't baseball. He would need to replicate his first year for there to even be a chance of that. If Wade lost his top guard who has been dominating the conference all year or his top big man who has been dominating the conference all year he would have a completely different record. Losing Cook and Collins and having Mwani injured for most of the season has affected this team yet they won 9 SEC games. He will need to hit some home runs in the portal but he ain't going anywhere and God knows what we could end up with if we just jump ship with no one in place. The chicken littles need to get a life and just let this play out.

I supported Wade and support McMahon. He has maybe 1 year left to prove himself before he loses the fans and his job. I think he knows this. He has to make the NCAA tournament next year at a minimum.

It's gonna be absolutely soul crushing to me when that motherfricker ends up at an SEC school and takes them dancing.

But... but Scott saved us! He didn't want to hear Dicky V say any more bad things... wah wah wah.

If MM doesn't take this team to the NCAA tourney next year, he better be gone.

Bama's a fricking 4 seed. And they're top 15 in baseball. Let that sink in.

I’m pumped to watch him get embarrassed three years in a row. Declining the nit would’ve been better then getting dickslapped on your home court by north Texas in round one

While not 100% certain, it seems very likely he is, at least, going to have to replace six players from this roster (Dean, Wright, Baker, Hannibal, Cook, Wilkinson). Odd are you'll probably have another 1-2 transfers simply because that is the nature of the sport today (not a personal knock on McMahon). So for a third straight season he's going to have to overhaul close or greater than 50% of his roster. If he does so and the results are, at best, about the same as they were this year what would be the rational in keeping him for year four considering he would likely have to significant rebuild roster again? To hope his fourth crack at trying to build a team would work? If you keep getting burnt every time you touch the stove don't you realize the stove is hot?

I've said all along. The "sin" wasn't hiring McMahon. His resume was among the best of the 6 new SEC hires made last season. The "sin" will be keeping him too long and hoping for different results.

Last year was an abject failure all the way around. This year he earned some of the benefit of the doubt back with better play in the SEC portion of the schedule. But next year there has to be more signs of progression. If not, why continue to delay the inevitable?

No problem with McMahon as a coach. He needs to step it up as a recruiter.
