re: McMahon is our coach for the future

Golden: 40-28 (20-16)
McMahon 31-35 (11-25)
So is it an issue of Golden's recruits being significantly underrated while McMahon's were significantly overrated? Or is it maybe a matter of one HC getting a hell of a lot more production than the other HC out of comparable talent?
You typed out a book of nonsense and failed to mention Colin Castleton once.

I’ll give it to you. Your ability to totally ignore context and argue whatever you want to argue is admirable.
The post was a rebuttal that McMahon is a good coach, but struggles with the recruiting. Thus the reason for losing. Yet, I pointed out his recruiting, both HS players and transfers has been comparable, if not better than Golden’s. Yet the on-court success isn’t. Golden actually performed worse with Castleton than he has done without him. So again, either his recruits are significantly underrated whereas McMahon’s are significantly overrated. Or the talent each has brought in is comparable and one guy is getting much better results from that talent than the other.
I’m actually disproving the previous poster’s position that McMahon “can’t recruit”. His recruiting relative to many of his contemporaries hasn’t been bad. It’s the coaching and development that has been.

Only if we can somehow get WW’s wife to let MM use her checkbook so LSU can once again scale the mountain all the way to a big loss in the sweet 16 baby!

quote:Such a great analysis of recruiting vs overall record over 2 years. Yet you left out that golden inherited a roster with the leading scorer and rebounder along with several other guys already on the roster. It is a horribly blatant attempt at deception.

Do you totally discredit Castleton when considering Golden's 9-9 conference record last year??? A team that went 9-9 in the conference the year before with Castleton leading the way? Yes, the recruiting rankings are lower and less important in his first year because HE DIDN'T NEED AS MANY RECRUITS!!!
This is the same bs from last year when you were trying to sell us on the success at Missouri, completely omitting Kobe Brown. Of course none of you liars are mentioning Missouri this year.
You can make arguments against McMahon all you want, but when your arguments intentionally leave huge holes it shows what a fraud you are. You hate McMahon because he replaced your man crush, and 2 years later you still aren't over it.

Alt is very critical of Wade.
Sometimes y'all just confuse yourselves.
Really? That's the argument? Alt26 is man crush Wade?
I know you guys don't understand this, but it's such a silly and stupid argument.
I'm a bigger Wade cultist, fanboy, etc. than Alt. WTF?!?
So laughable.
Complete nonsense.

I miss alt’s rants about Wade’s approach to defense from ‘17-21

quote:He takes every opportunity and angle to try to say McMahon isn't a good coach. He leaves gaping holes when he does that. He just now tried to say that Golden at Florida is getting significantly better results. He completely omitted the roster Golden inherited and zero NOA. I guess he is also forgetting that Florida is a missed open layup from possibly losing to LSU and finishing with the same SEC record this year.
WTF?!?

Is that the amazing separation between Florida and LSU considering where both programs were 24 months ago? A missed layup? That is more of a testament to McMahon than anything else.

I think this is still TBD. I think Woody's prepared to make a move.
More LSU fans would be calling for the CMM's job if it were football, or even baseball. But basketball allows for a longer trial period because it has less followers at LSU.
Maybe CMM was just the right personality to bring a tarnished program back to being boring again. Boring is better than a "cheater" from a PR viewpoint.
Everybody wins (except the team, lol) - CMM collects a fat paycheck and LSU gets out from under all the scrutiny. Then they part ways and we bring in a guy like Bruce Pearl to change the face of the program and bring some excitement back.
Look at the turnaround at Auburn and how their fans pack out the bleachers game after game. That is what we need.
Finally, LSU can't win without the right players. Sadly, the primary reason for their performance the last two years is simply a lack of talent. They played hard and represented LSU well, however. Thank you to all the players.
If LSU wants to be relevant in men's basketball, go out there and get the right players with the right mindset and change the culture inside the locker room at the players' level.

So really we had the same season as Florida? Quick, somebody notify the admin and get the team on a plane right now. The first round games start tomorrow, we can’t be late.

But it’s not football or baseball. And if either of those programs were under investigation or had the threat of sanctions you think we get Brian Kelly or Jay Johnson. Or any of the other outstanding athletes that we signed? The answer is no. It’s as if none of these people have ever taken deductive reasoning in college. It’s all emotional. It’s simple. If McMahon doesn’t get the job done then he’ll be replaced. This time no sanctions or investigations hanging over us. But this demand that it has to or must happen in 2 yrs is stupid and childish. It is strange to have grown men, I think, whining and bitching about a coach 2 yrs later. And hating on the current coach because of it. I mean McMahon didn’t fire Wade. Imagine dating a girl and every day all she did was bring up her boy friend who left her 2 yrs ago. Every Fricking day. There’s a word for a chick like that. I think it’s called Rantards.

Football was under investigation and received sanctions yet we hired Kelly and he went to the SEC title game year 1.

quote:No. We lost that game. But the difference in our conference records is a single head to head match up. Does that one game make Florida a significantly better program? No.

So if you can't claim that they are way ahead of us based on this year, you have to throw in last year's records. Of course when you do that you have to ignore that Florida had players waiting (including the leading scorer and rebounder) and had a coach move on, not the crap fest happening at LSU. No NOA.

I See what you did there, you turned one game into a season. I find it funny that you believe people don't notice this. You’re not slick and Florida is way ahead of us which is why they’re in the big dance, won 7 more games than us and made the SEC title game while we’re sitting home again because we couldn’t beat a rec ball squad on our own floor in the NIT much less get to the real tourney. That ain’t the same buddy, nowhere close to the same.

Good thing we're a football school.
