We have a better chance of winning NCAA titles in both football and baseball for the next 10 consecutive years than the basketball team finishing 3rd in the SEC next season.
This is dumb as frick.

He currently has the program poised to be lower middle of the conference again next season. We’ll see see whether he brings in any significant talent before then.
We're smack dab in the middle this season when most people said we wouldn't win 3 conference games. The improvement is impressive over last season. Why would you think we can't continue to improve?

Is this where we play pretend that looming sanctions didn't impact recruiting at all after Wade's departure?
Is this where we pretend that we actually received sanctions?

If McMahon can bring in a hammer or two from the portal like Mark Sears , Dalton Knecht or Tari Eason to combine with the core group this program will easily be a top 25 program.
Who knew???

Givens is 4 star PG ( 6'2" ) and Miller is a 4 star PF ( 6'10" 225 ). Hopefully they live up to their ranking.

Prediction for next season: 23-10, 12-6 SEC and third place in the league. and will win a game and maybe two in the NCAA playoffs.
McMahon has shown with an inkling of talent, he can coach winning basketball.
McMahon has yet to show he can recruit at a level sufficient to elevate LSU into the top third.
Predicting next season is a bit premature.

I am not understanding the down votes on this post. Are y'all not an LSU fan?

This is an actual realistic take. Have an upvote.

Quantum leap is a bit strong. I will allow for measured growth and improved performance. This is going to take 2-3 seasons & VERY GOOD recruiting cycles, to get to be where he wants it to be.

There might be something special brewing on the bayou as LSU men's basketball is beginning to emerge as a competitive program and ready to take the next step into the top third of the Soon to be 16 team conference.
Ooooooorrrrr you might be smoking something you shouldn't be.

As I said in an earlier post on another thread, if I'm the LSU AD, that 12-6 is the record necessary next season for McMahon to keep his job.

I can't believe I have to agree with mmcgrath!
12-6 in the SEC next year or he's fired? What if LSU goes 10-8 in the SEC but is a 7th seed in the NCAA tournament? LSU went 9-9 in the SEC, yet reached the NCAA Tournament with the 3rd best seed position (6th) in 20 years. Should Wade have been fired for that (NOT the off court issues)?
Setting some arbitrary record requirement without any context is absurd. Arkansas was 8-10 in SEC play last year, yet reached the NCAAT. Vanderbilt was 11-7...and didn't reach the NCAAT. What performance would you prefer?

Yeah right...after 3 years, just stick with a coach who isn't doing the job. Or maybe you think mediocre/middle of the pack in SEC basketball is just fine. To blow something up being a bad thing, that assumes something is worth saving. If McMahon can't go 12-6 after 3 years, the job is obviously too big for him.

So if he goes 10-8 and makes the NCAA tourney he's still out?
