It isn't making an excuse for mediocrity, it's seeing the reality that this team has a very slim chance of going very far. This is what happens when you have to build a roster every year out of the portal. Sometimes you are going to hit a HR ( no pun intended ) with 2 championships with phenomenal talents like Skenes, White and many others and sometimes you will end up like this year. It's the nature of the beast.
Jay gets that benefit of the doubt when he's won 2 national championships. Who else at LSU has won 2 in the past 25 years? Saban didn't even do it.

So, is Jay 100% of the reason LSU won those 2 national championships? If you going to give him 100% of the blame for the bad seasons, you have to give him 100% of the credit for the good seasons.
Yeah, the way this year's portal guys are panning out, they are not cutting it. That being said, he also brought in Skenes, White along with a long list of others previously and won 2 national championships. That's all that needs to be said.

Well, the NFL coaches and analysts know way more than the opinions of people on here.
That’s a shocker, could have seen her getting a lot of playing time next year.

I’ve watched them a couple times but I mentioned over the past several years. They still need more power hitters.

I’ve talked about this with some of my coworkers for years now. No power with too many slap hitters. A lot of the perennial powers have some big girls that can really hit and may not move as well as the little twigs for LSU but it’s a small field and can still be covered by less mobile girls. Guess what I’m trying to say is, I’d give up some of the defense for offense because those little girls are no match for the top tier pitching.
Where I agree he should have still fielded it, there's no reason Yorke shouldn't have been able to hit him in the glove, it was a poor throw.
Another reason to give him the benefit of the doubt is correct me if I’m wrong, he’s the only coach at LSU that has won multiple championships in the last 20 years.
When you win 2 titles in the short time you are there, you get the benefit of the doubt and rightfully so.
Law of averages will catch up with you sooner or later but Jay has done a great job overall assessing talent and knowing whether it will translate to the SEC level. May have missed on some this year. Still have a lot of baseball to play, they may come around.
Football is a whole different animal, look at basketball, McMahon didn't win shite and he's still here as of now. Baseball and Jay would have some leeway. The delusional fans would want him fired maybe but even with the one championship, he'd be ok with the administration.
Nah, the pitching failed them last night. I do agree the catchers need to be better but the real determining factor last night was pitching.
He reminds me some of Hilliard years back, if he can't locate the 12-6 curve for strikes, he's in trouble or if he elevates his pitches, he gets hit hard. His fastball needs movement without any other pitches or he needs a great changeup or slider. I was hoping they would pull him after he gave up the one run, they were hitting him hard before the bomb.
I think Guidry can be a setup guy for 1 inning but I don't see him as a true closer. Not all closers are the overpowering types but that's what I think of when you talk about closers and he isn't that type. Just my opinion.

I agree, get the entitled attitudes out of there. Bring in some hungry players striving for a championship.

Not sure but there was a bunch of arguing going on between Flau'jae, Mikaylah and Knox. This is why I don't think they have a chance to win it all this year. That in fighting and bickering never ends well and kills the cohesiveness of a team.
Go get Todd golden from Florida, he’s done a great job with them and has them in position to be a potential 1 seed.
You can say the men’s basketball program is a joke but LSU’s athletic department isn’t a joke. We have the best baseball, football and women’s basketball coach in the country.
