Matt’s McMahon’s LSU men’s basketball team at times plays together, plays smart, and plays hard and when it happens, LSU is tough to beat. Unfortunately it’s a team that can’t keep it going, a team that can’t resist being selfish and going back to bad habits.

Matt clearly showed his frustration after the Alabama loss, a game LSU could have played much better in and won. Matt noted of his players performance “it was poor, poor just poor shot selection” Matt McMahon is a good coach, but it takes more than that to get a team to listen to coaching and continuously improve. Unlike Kim Mulkey who knows how to be tough and get a team’s attention to keep it improving.

Based on what exactly?

If he can't get a team to "listen to coaching" or continuously improve, then doesn't that suggest he's NOT a good coach?

He should be frustrated with his dumb gameplan of playing at a fast pace with a more talented team who wants to get up and down

Do you watch the games? LSU isn’t tough to beat and zero shot of beating Bama no matter how they played.

CMM trying to beat Bama at their own game twice is about as dumb as you can get. They changed nothing in the game plan from the first game.

My biggest problem with McMahon is for the money he’s making you have to work at all aspects of the program

Outside of game day it’s like lsu hoops is non existent

Promote the program
Get in the community and drum up interest

I will tell it to straight up with no BS. Matt is a good coach who knows how to win, but doesn’t know how to win consistently because he can’t keep his players in check. Kim knows how to get her players attention when she gets frustrated. Matt doesn’t seem to know how with his team. I don’t know if it’s due to a lack faith, trust or respect but it’s the truth.

McMahon’s teams so far in nearly two years don’t do the fundamental things in basketball that produce winning. Turnovers, rebounding, shot selection, defense and bad situational basketball. Regardless of talent these things aren’t done so even when you’re even on talent or have slightly more you’re going to lose too many of those games.

Not a sign of good coaching.

Not a sign of good coaching. Kim is a great coach.

MM has not shown that he is a good coach at LSU. His teams quit on him. He’s got players in his “doghouse,” and he cant get the best out of his team.

I believe they made some changes; for one Baker was the center of things in game two until Bama adjusted.

He also changed the starting lineup, and put Hannibal in over Cook.

McMahon got criticized by playing fast, but when we play slow we don’t handle the ball well. We turn it over. We lack players that can create and beat set defenses.

My criticism of McMahon stems from his recruiting. We lack the athletes to beat Bama and most SEC teams consistently.

McMahon has benched Cook a number of times for doing exactly what you are talking about. His team does compete and play hard. They are a few plays away from sweeping TAM and beating GA on the road. They have competed with the top teams in the league only to lose it in the last qtr of the games which is when the talent has taken over. McMahon is a good coach but not a great coach. Wade was the same. A good coach but not great. What set him apart was his ability to recruit. We’ll see if McMahon can sign his 2 big recruits next year and keep the core players coming back. Add a few portal players and next year should be a sign of whether he will be here for a while are be the beginning of the end. 1st year was a throw away so let’s see where he ends up this year .

He should learn how to change defenses up to change the pace of play from CKM

This is his style of play. This is what he’s recruiting toward. This is how we wil play as long as he’s here. This is how players want to play.

No more excuses or moral victories for next season, McMahon needs to have a winning team that fans want to watch.
LSU bigwigs also need to help out MBB by officially announcing a new PMAC or a complete remodel, otherwise we’ll continue to be a bad or just an ok team at best.

Promotion of the program in general is lacking. They should have spots on all the local channels, letting people know there’s a game. Highlight videos etc. they need to make a tour of the CSAL schools, and other local schools. They need to have giveaways, like shirts, hats etc. maybe do the half court shot for a car, anything to get people interested in going

bullshite.

Wade had teams in the top 10 in offensive efficiency and in other years had teams in the top 10 in defensive efficiency, this is a sign of a great coach.
