The man just beat a ranked Florida team at home with a fairly decent crowd for an 11 am game. LSU did Coach O dirty by announcing this after a big win. Its a shame and I am truly appalled by that decision.

We are waiting... announcing it now so most of the drama will settle.

Has a team ever announced the firing of their coach after a win that wasn’t a bowl game? I’m glad it happened but it should have happened and been announced after the Kentucky game.

Can't please everybody. I can appreciate making a decision and standing firm on it. Not letting weekly emotions come into it.

Does anybody think because Ed O beat Florida this week that will make the team better next year?

This was the objective but O didnt sign anything till this past weekend...so obviously not going to announce it till it was a done deal.

They started talks all last week.

Does it look a little weird to announce it right after a W? Sure.

Does it still make 100% sense he's leaving altogether? Absolutely. We lost to UCLA, Auburn at home and Kentucky for christs sake while losing control of the team for a 2nd year in a row...before we even got to the meat of the schedule.

Puts the people on notice that LSU is HC shopping. Gives us time to do a better search.

This. People are stupid. Scott is running an athletic program that generates $160MM/yr. I trust his judgment. His job depends on him doing a damn good job.

And what? Allow rumors to circulate for months? Remember when Alleva did that to Miles in 2015?

Letting your coach very publicly dangle in the wind is far worse than coming to a public and amicable agreement to terminate after 7 games.

What does that really solve?

Agreed - get the word out early. How many times in the past 5+ years have we been stuck with what we could get because LSU waited too long to make something public?

I actually think this weekend was better. It's a softer blow than "firing" after a bad loss. And it also exposes the fact that it was about more than just wins and losses.

Big mistake not to cut ties immediately. I don't know what the frick Woodward is thinking.

Either wait, or cut ties. Recruiting will suck.

Honestly, I was against firing mid-season before, but after reading some good points here and seeing how they handled it, I'm fine either way. There's seems to be a lot of offsetting pros and cons.

So why not announce the firing a week before like Boat suggested? It looks ridiculous to fire a coach after a winning against a top 20 opponent with only 60 scholarship players on the roster.

you recall Joe being trigger shy on Les? Les rallied and the idiots supported him, made him a martyr.

You know the program is rotten, don't give the mob a chance to sway you from making the correct decision. The OP proves why this was the right move.
