Considering I’m 17 years old, I probably should still live with my parents. I’m not in a basement though, I have a whole room to myself!!!! Isn’t that insane? Stop being a dick dumbass, I asked about an experience about a really cool game. I wasn’t even born you twat. I watched a 30 for 30 about it, and it mentioned LSU. Did I ever say, “Oh my god I hate gays, and I’m homophobic.” Nope never said that shite, so do me a favor and stop acting like I did. This is literally how they aired it on t.v. lol, and that’s why I mentioned I’m not trying to offend anyone. Also, it’s a bunch of college kids giving a great player a hard time. Stop taking shite so personally. They said “homosexual” with the tomohawk chant. Lord forgive drunk college kids for heckling an opposing player.

Like I said, I wasn’t calling out anyone or saying those things. They were said. I’m asking if anyone was at this game, and experienced it, and what it was like.

Look at that crowd!! How can we get that type of atmosphere back in the PMAC?

This pre dated cell phones. The atmosphere of those days are long gone. You'll never prevent 3/4 of the crowd from spending a good portion of their time rubber necking on their phones. That's a wrap on those good old days.

Was out of school by then but several of my friends younger brothers were attending at that time. They were at every game and part of the tent crew on the ramps days before. Good times for LSU MBB.

How many fouls would've been called in that clip today?

It was a good game and a good atmosphere. We drove down from West Monroe for this game and drove home afterwards.

But I was told that students need to be classy and not say derogatory things to opposing players nor do obscene organized chants like Neck and thatthis generation of students was the first group to EVER do this

what it was like being in a crowd that hates on someone for their homosexuality?

Laettner isn't even gay IRL. Get off your high horse.

I didn't camp out an ended up missing it, but you could hear the PMAC from halfway across campus.

Sidenote: I remember the old barber at the Union bitching about "...all these kids coming in asking for 'Laettner' haircuts."

I couldn't believe what a seemingly big deal ESPN making this 30 for 30 (and Billy Packer who did the color that afternoon on CBS) made about the chants, taunts from the LSU student section in a game against Duke who's on student section has been known for all kinds of notorious incidents directed toward opposing players.

As an aside, right or wrong, Laettner did himself no favors with some of his bizarre comments in the Sports Illustrated article before the season expressing his "love" for teammate Brian Davis. It wasn't in the "we all love each other realm." This was weird.

The irony of the fact that the 17 year old...a guy smack dab in iGen who is largely to blame for the safe space bullshite we are all so tired off... has to explain this shite to someone older is hilarious.

Congrats, kid...you get it. Great question, and it's always fantastic to have a chance to relive some of the great moments in LSU sports when younger fans are genuinely interested and ask.

Also...congrats on perfectly using "twat."

I was there, it was my last semester at LSU. Me and a friend of mine camped out the night before but some students were camping out on the ramp all week. The atmosphere was great but it was great for a lot of games back then. We played UNLV, Loyola Marymount 2 years earlier and Arizona in Dec the same season as Duke they were a top 5 team. It was great.

Believe it or not I had forgotten about the “homosexual” chant towards Laettner until I saw that doc a couple years ago. We played Florida St in football that season they were #1 and LSU actually lead for a lot of it. Students were doing the tomahawk chop and chanting “f**k the Seminoles, f**k the Seminoles“ to the beat of the FSU war chant and somehow that carried over to Duke and “homosexual” rhythmically fit so that’s we’re that came from. Obviously it was a different time. I don’t recall it being done all game but only parts, when he was taking over and kind of egging the crowd on.

G Hill is still my all time favorite bball player. just a ridiculous all-around talent. great blend of athelticism, IQ, and smoothness. I wish he hadn't gotten hurt, and that he and Allan Houston had a long run together (or someone similar who complemented his game).

I was 12. And to this day it's probably my most anticipated game ever. I skipped my basketball game that day to stay home and watch. Disappointing ending but it was still awesome.

I just remember him and Cherokee Parks fouling the shite out of Shaq. One play one of them stomped on Shaq while he was on the ground and the refs did nothing. Both of them should've fouled out by halftime.

We camped out for that game. There were tents all the way down the ramp to the pmac. I was with 2 buddies and one of them brought a ton of beer that were called big mouth or something because the opening was big. That atmosphere was incredible I’ll never forget it.
