I was just watching a 30 for 30 about Christian Laettner and Duke called “I hate Christin Laettner. I’m sure some of you have seen it. It didn’t just now air, I had taped it a good amount of time ago. In the 30 for 30 they had mentioned in part of it Shaq and LSU. They specifically were talking about how Laettner responded to crowds in a big way, when he felt tested etc. Obviosuly both these teams were amazing at this time with super stars. A lot of recent talk about Laettner came out about him being gay before this game. They even showed it on the 30 for 30. I couldn’t help, but find some of it funny. From the crowd doing the tomohawk chop saying “homosexual” to them yelling other things such as fa*g*o* at him. I’m wondering if anyone was in attendance for this game, and what it was like? Seemed pretty awesome.

Also, not meaning to offend anyone, that’s just what aired on the documentary.

Like I said, I wasn’t calling out anyone or saying those things. They were said. I’m asking if anyone was at this game, and experienced it, and what it was like.

You need to be more respectful of others. Be the best a man can be.

Well I’m not surprised you’re offended. You’re pretty gay.

Yes. Legit old school Deaf Dome! Students camped out since that Wednesday (game was Saturday). We had them on the ropes...up by 5 midway thru 2nd half. But we went something like 11 of 21 from the free throw line and blew it. Then we got upset by Georgia and Vandy right after. Duke truly cost us the SEC championship that year

I was there, camped out on pmac ramps with sofa and a keg !

We had picked up the tomahawk chop ( homo ) chant from having played FSU in football in 89 & 91.

Those were the days!

I can still hear it . Ho Mo sex u al - followed by five claps. Believe it or not , if you yelled “ f*g “ at players, even back then, people assumed you were a dumbass. Particularly since Duke was so clever. Worse than being a bigot imho, is being unable to come up with anything better .

I was there also.... crazy arse game....Grant Hill played his arse off but not often you see a 6’8” point guard...the Duke band was there and they put them almost in the rafters of the Maravich Center... you couldn’t even hear them when they were playing... LSU had em just couldn’t hit needed free throws when it counted...

I was there, heard the tomahawk chant but couldn't make out what they were saying. Didn't find out until later.

Grant Hill playing point for an injured Bobby Hurley. We saw what happens when a talented team plays talented individuals.

I was there. I was a junior in high school. We had season tickets and I drove over from Lafayette and went by myself. As others have said, it was awesome, until we got our assess kicked.

Perhaps my favorite game from that era that I attended was when we beat Arizona earlier that season.

Yep. Was there. Camped out on the ramp w/other students. Seeing the tents lined up was pretty incredible.

Like others said the atmosphere was awesome, but we couldn’t hit free throws worth squat, and Laettner seemed to feed off us giving him a hard time.

I was there. We had the lead until Leatner hit 3straight 3’s to go up late in the game. The dome was as loud as it has ever been that day.

So what I gathered from this post is you want to hear from someone who was in the crowd at the time so you can know what it was like being in a crowd that hates on someone for their homosexuality?

Some of you frickers need to get a hold of some fresh air outside of your mom’s basement.
