Self-admittedly not a legal professional or even particularly smart, but, isn't this clearly a 1-year issue with just the 2022 class? How could their defense be that soft to suggest this will have some theoretical effect on future recruiting efforts? Also, there hasn't been a single college player cut from a college team to "make room" for this 2022 class coming back.
This seems like a slam dunk.

Meh I don’t mind us picking this fight when the SEC has set a precedent for picking and choosing which injunctions they’ll follow. Chambliss was denied eligibility multiple times by the NCAA under the rules but we’re going to burn everything down by allowing a back up TE on the team ? Gtfo
So yeah once we lost out on pyburn, he was the only one I thought would be an actual needle mover for the current team, this fight on the surface seems pointless…but I am so damn tired of this conference and it’s inconsistent enforcement and rules in general for the protected class, I’m ok with lsu saying nah frick you

The SEC suit is for declaratory judgement in federal court that basically keeps LSU from going to state court for a TRO after the SEC issues a punishment to LSU.

You’d think so, but I’m pretty sure a 2021 guy at some point will come to the table too. You can sue for anything, just would have a much weaker case.

South Carolina literally adds a former NFL player the same day the SEC sues LSU for even attempting it.

Seems like an argument could be made that this path never gets opened if the SEC and other conferences advocate for the NCAA to issue a blanket waiver for 2022 alone and come together with these guidelines on leaving with remaining eligibility making you ineligible going forward after this year. If that happens, none of this other fallout even occurs so maybe the SEC should sue the SEC for causing substantial damage to the conference.

Daequan Wright had more receiving yards last season at Ole Miss than Thaddeus Moss in the season he set LSU record. Definitely would be a serious impact

I'm not going to lie; there would be some great roadtrips. Another awesome thing would be watching Michigan etc. come down here in Sept. heat and the Tigers having to face the cold up there in Nov.
Don't think it will ever really get to that point, but it would be a definite change of pace.

Yeah, they're basically laying out our case for us at this point. I'm genuinely baffled that they went through with this fight. When the transcripts come out, Sankey will be fired. There's no recovering from some of the shite they've said under oath.
