Are we wearing the wrong cleats or something? We’ve slipped at least 5 times and I haven’t seen Vandy slip once

Today's Baseball Scrimmage(Friday 10/17) - Open to Public?
Posted by frogpond11 on 10/17/25 at 7:42 am
I thought I saw something about tonight's 6PM scrimmage being exclusive for the "Coaches Committee" only. I had planned on taking my 9 year old tonight, but didn't want to make the trip if we won't be able to get in obviously. Anyone got the details? Thanks!

Transfer players that I have heard are linked to #LSU:
3B Bryce Calloway (UNO)
RHP Landon Mack (Rutgers)
LHP Dylan Loy (Tennessee)
MIF Jarren Advincula (Cal)
LHP Santiago Garcia (Oregon)
I saw some highlights of Landon Mack, stuff looks very good.
I like the stable of arms we have coming back, but I think adding 1 elite weekend-level arm as well as some lefties for the pen would be just right.

These commentators can see Trackman in their booth, correct? They referenced it in the first game today. There’s NO way that system doesn’t show the same BS we’re all seeing. And frick them for never even mentioning it.

On a passed ball strike 3 to the “outside” of the line, the 1B uses the green bag and the runner should use the white bag

If the ump doesn’t help ARK so much, we might be able to do something

I'd love to hear why basketball gets 3+ million and baseball is lumped into the "every other sport splits 1 million" bucket. Swap those! 3M is a whole weekend of starters and then some.

I get football is important...but how is baseball not a bigger priority for LSU with this?
Clipped from an article quoting Keli Zinn from LSU:
"LSU’s plan for year one is to allocate 75% of its $20.5 million to football, 15% to men’s basketball and 5% to women’s basketball. The remaining 5% will be split across all other sports."

Given the day break in between game 2 and game 3 on Monday and Wednesday, I'd expect Jay to go to Evans 100% for sure if it's a close ball game vs ARK. Also, no shade on the other 2 teams on our side of the bracket, but I feel like the ARK is the ONE to win.

Feel like that called third strike on Hernandez almost hit him it was so inside

re: West Virginia ace Griffin Kirn
Posted by frogpond11 on 6/5/25 at 10:17 am to SammyTiger
I went back and watched Kirn's start against Kentucky. He does hide the ball well, and the most concerning thing for me is that he has a good change up that he relies on often. That's really what I've seen as our kryptonite(see Texas A&M series-3 lefties with good change ups). That being said, we've seen the best the country has to offer on Friday nights all year and come out really well in those games with Kade going for us, so I like our chances.
I also wonder if Jay has the gumption to actually move Curiel down in the lineup. He's way different vs lefties than righties. Frey out the gate might make Kirn/WV pucker up a bit!

re: Pitching.. Connor Benge? Deven Sheerin? Grant Fontenot?
Posted by frogpond11 on 5/27/25 at 11:30 am to LSU=Champions
Makes sense on Benge, just didn't know if he actually got hurt or what. Didn't see him even in a mid-week game.
I think what's on my mind is looking for that guy that could give us that Will Hellmers outing like he did against NC, not completely out of nowhere but not necessarily "one of the guys" going in..

Pitching.. Connor Benge? Deven Sheerin? Grant Fontenot?
Posted by frogpond11 on 5/27/25 at 11:22 am
Just out of curiosity... what ever happened to Connor Benge? Hasn't seen game action since late April. I feel like I heard Deven Sheerin is close to being back from injury a couple of weeks ago, are there any updates? Grant Fontenot has had several encouraging outings heading into postseason.
I know we basically have our guys going into postseason..but I feel like we really have 7 reliable arms.. Kade, Eyanson, Evans, Cowan, Shores, and I'd add Noot and Mayers in there as making a late push to contribute for sure.
Just thinking how huge it could be if Fontenot continued his recent performance or if Deven made it back and was good, and then just curious where Benge disappeared to is all. 1 of these could make an 8th reliable arm potentially.. (I've heard Jay say having 8 reliable arms is what's needed in postseason play).
Of course others like Cooper Williams, Mavrick Rizy, Conner Ware or William Schmidt could also all contribute, but have been varying levels of inconsistent and I don't see Jay relying on them unless necessary (other than Coop and Ware for lefties specifically).

Classic. Jones swings at ball 4 and 5. This offense sucks

6+ ERA starter completely shut us down. Jay always loves to deflect off on to the quality of the opposing pitcher(s) and not bad hitting. Can’t wait to hear his comments after this. He’s supposed to be an offensive coach……

Equally encouraged by the pitching stepping up AND discouraged by our continued lack of ability to put runs on the board on offense.
