Lane's halftime quote context...

Being that the SEC felt the need to add this to the federal lawsuit, AND is using it as its justification for LOIC, i felt the need to listen to it again. As on the broadcast, all you can hear as Kiffin is walking away is "imagine if we had pro players"
however, a different angle and sound of the clip reveals the full statement.
as the interview is done, while walking away, kiffing says "it took everything for me not to say 'imagine if we had pro players'"
so by definition, Kiffin was showing his restraint to NOT say a demeaning comment to the media/SEC. This is further demonstrated in the post game PC where kiffin is asked about the comment and says he didnt realize ESPN was still rolling video.

The joke was said in context of us kicking Clemson's arse 31-3 at halftime after everyone screamed that 2 depth players from NFL training camps would be an unfair advantage.
Taking that as a threat that we're definitely going to roster these players is just misreading the whole thing. Kiffin has said repeatedly in public we'll comply with SEC rules.

It was on live TV but you had to be really paying attention. I go to the games and watch the network broadcast that I record later the next day. I knew of the quote so I was looking for it but it was on the live feed.
As the OP stated the first part of the statement was muffled because he was walking away and had his back turned but the last part was captured.

yeah i knew this already but I imagine what the SECRant would do with this. No WAY they, the SEC or any of the other talking heads would give credence to what ACTUALLY happened.

The first part of what he said was audible on live TV, it was just garbled because his head was turned the other way, only when he turned his head back towards Holly did you hear “imagine if we had pro players“.
Another thing that for context was left out in this conversation is that Kiffin said “we only have 31 points right now, it should be 51” (or something like that). So he was really letting them have it.

Well Chicken man I know the part that was shared is totally accurate, as you can hear him say that all as he walked away leaning back at her. After the interview had ended.

This story keeps getting better. A grown whiny-arse snowflake, and his advising attorneys, felt the need to include his comment in the amended lawsuit but didn’t bother to listen to and understand the context of the quote. This whole thing is nothing but a damn clown show orchestrated by adults who are more unreasonable than a 4-year old.

It was a joke and shouldn't get anyone upset. However, the distinction between saying X and saying took "it took a lot for me to not say X" is nothing more than delaying saying X.

Thanks for sharing and when you listen to it, it's just as plain as day exactly. You can hear perfectly that he says it took everything for me. Not to say he is turning away from Holly. No disparaging comment towards the SEC at all. Unbelievable that this s*** has gone this far
