I see no fault in Lane Kiffin for clarifying an emotion of detailing something that he did not say for everyone to hear.

That is seemingly the way they are running the SEC. Rushing around chasing words and changing rules on the fly. Great. Some one should reel in the SEC.

If this upsets people "it took everything for me not to say 'imagine if we had pro players'"

College football is getting soft.
Oh no he said something.
My feelings are hurt.

It was obviously pure sarcasm. Kiffin was actually saying that those two players are not real ex-NFLers and that the score would not have been much different had they both played, which makes the Sankey pearl-clutching a mountain-out-of-a-mole hill reaction.

What kind of bird brain does Sankey have to read Lane's halftime joke as a literal future plan/wish?

Dude, he was giving the kind of speech that you would expect just about any coach worth his salt at halftime. I'm not a huge fan of Lane, but I don't get all this analyzing his halftime speech. If he hadn't you should be worried.

I heard the subtext as "these ARE pro players."

This thread isn't about the halftime speech in the locker room.

Unless you're saying any coach would be expected to tell Holly Rowe, "It took me everything to not say, 'Imagine if we had pro players.'"
