Is the rule by the SEC something that the NCAA actually has power over? Conferences have certain powers outside of the NCAA like how they negotiate tv contracts on their own.

My point exactly. This is such a waste of time. Grandfather the 2022 class and let them play. This all goes away next year so why waste all of this time trying to keep these athletes from playing as a court has judged they have the right to. This is all about LSU. If they weren't getting any of these players I don't think we ever would have heard a word about it.

This is a reasonable, logical choice. The only thing I can think about this whole ordeal is that everyone is afraid of LSU whooping their asses on the field. And they also irrationally hate Lane Kiffin, that’s a big part of it too
I'm starting to believe Lady Mosconas conspiracy theory that NCAA purposely excluded 2022 in order to point it out to Congress "see how bad it is, do something" and force them to pass the act

Yes because they're worried about LSU's competitive advantage. So what that means is they're going to put the refs in their back pockets and watch them screw LSU all year in the SEC.

I don’t know why this so hard to understand as reasonable… of course the media has implied these kids have won a superbowl and want to go back to college. As usual, zero fricking nuance can be embraced.

At some point, the NCAA should force the issue to the federal court system. They are a national organization and the rules (whatever they may be) should be the same in every state. The rulings so far have been in state courts that are leaning to the side of the state institution. Kentucky in this case, Mississippi for Chambliss, Texas for Sorsby. LA for RJ Luis.

It’s not a slam dunk on the 5 for 5 waiver for incoming freshman class that started in 2022. The 10th Circuit already stayed the decision by the federal judge in Colorado, and even though it was in the following day or so she clarified that other NCAA rules on not being a pro, the transfer portal, not being over 24 years old, and others still had to be followed. It still could go the other way in actual trial if it gets that far, but the stay shows the NCAA still has chances in other courts.
These locals are pushing more than a one time waiver for the class that didn’t get an 5th year and also pushing waiving the pro rule which is what the SEC has been mostly against. One pushed a player to gain eligibility who had actually left college with eligibility remaining to go pro and doesn’t even fit in with those claiming to have made pro decision solely based on running out of eligibility due to existing NCAA eligibility rules. I might have missed it, but I have not seen the SEC speak out as much or at all against someone from 2022 class getting a court decision adding a 5th year as long as nothing else restricts their eligibility under current rules.
