Kate Koval wasn’t treated well in this situation. The Russian may be too good of a player to pass up. I get that. But it would be utopian fantasy to think that a young Russian and a young Ukrainian would agree to play on the same team. Kate should have been consulted prior to the closure of the transfer portal.

This would make a great hallmark movie. Russian comes in, balls out and takes the job. They fight back and forth, russian takes Kate’s girlfriend. Tragedy happens and they help each other and put away their differences. They lead a movement to end the war “make love not war” final scene cuts to them scissoring.

I don't know why people would downvote this post. There are real Nazis fighting for Ukraine.

Hallmark movie? In modern Hollywood that would be Oscar bait.

I understand Koval's reasons but it sucks that she feels she can't be on the same team with a Ruskie. It's not like the Russia player is Putin's daughter.

So in honor of Kate and her logic Ill treat all muslims as illiterate pedophile war lords since their prophet was one . Is that how this works?

Any chance that her parents, a father who is fighting in the war zone, had more than just a small role in her decision? I seriously doubt that this was100% her own decision. She told CKM last year that she prays for her father every day, worried about his safety.

I think, in this case, her family definitely had an influence in her decision..................and I'm okay with that.

I never said it was admirable or virtuous. Just that it's her decision based on her personal values and very few (if any) on here have been through an experience like this or have the empathy to fully attempt to understand it.

Though I will say I find this decision more admirable than the constant dipping in the NIL landscape we currently have and I'm certainly not blaming the kid when they leave for additional NIL opportunities, so I'm definitely not blaming Kate here.

What happens when she goes to the WNBA or gets a real job later in life and there’s a Russian on that team or a Russian working at that place? She Gonna Quit?

This is a joke and it only hurts Kate in the future.

If she's competent at her future profession she could just....you know....find another job.
