If Kate is so emotionally wrapped up in the conflict that she can't even be teammates with a girl that has shown zero animosity toward her just because of where the person was born then why isn't she over there serving like many men and women her age if not in actual uniformed service, then taking care of the many wounded and disabled soldiers?

This is stunningly ignorant and callous. Koval came here presumably to get an education and her family had to be comforted that she was in a safe place. Why aren't YOU in the U.S. military, helping our brave enlisted men and women fighting Iran? A ridiculous question? -- no more so than yours.

We have no right to compel her to associate with and be a good teammate to the girl from Russia. Neither does Kim Mulkey.

Take your bleeding heart and high horse somewhere else. She is the one evoking the picture of sacrifice and the deep caring etc. when there are Ukrainians younger than her making real sacrifices. She is wrapping herself in this to get an NCAA transfer, not being Ghandi.

No one is trying to compel her to do anything, she was free to walk just like all players are, she just wants to be special and get an exemption and is playing to an audience to try to make enough noise to force the NCAA to give it to her. I even stated in this thread I could respect her making the decision to walk, it is the use of the Ukrainian suffering and using the colors etc. that is distasteful.

At my age my days of service are behind me but even if I was younger and not serving it would be irrelevant since I'm not asking for any kind of special treatment. Pretty clear distinction.

I posted this earlier:

Her own words are

quote:
More than anything, I hope I am given the opportunity to compete at another school during the upcoming 2026-27 basketball season," Koval said.

quote:
More than anything

Not peace. Not Ukrainian sovereignty, not the killing to stop, not even her father's safety.

She's using the suffering of the Ukrainian people to get an exemption, and some people are eating it up.

ETA CKM did what is best for the team and that is exactly what she should always do.
