You must have been looking for a reason to complain about and hate Kim. If Ana had been in Russian Army previously and been killing Ukrainians, then Kate has a legit gripe. But Ana didn't seem to be troubled by Kate's Dad killing Ukrainians in the same conflict.

Nah, most people can clearly see the visceral reaction something like this situation can prompt in an emotionally engaged person. No fault in having feelings.
The logical and reasonable thing to do after getting the frick over those feelings is to come to terms with the fact that the Russian player isn't a mascot for the Russian government and that the Ukrainian government doesn't need a college basketball martyr to fall on her sword. I'm disappointed her parents did not or were not able to dissuade her from grandstanding on this. People should not be shunned simply because of their governments' behavior.

People also forget Kate was 16 when the invasion began and her direct family (her father) along with people she likely grew up with are actively in the conflict. She is 20 now, so very much impassioned and impacted by this.
Additionally, anyone who has any leadership skills knows getting the most talented players is one key factor amongst several (i.e. look at our team the year after we won the NC).
Mulkey basically got a more talented big that could help us win a few additional games in the regular season (Koval legitimately cost us against Kentucky imo), but failed to address the core issue that we are sorely missing depth in the post that will more than likely result in us falling short in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8......again

This is where we can disagree. Why does Ana deserve less of an opportunity? Did she do or say something that caused to get the opportunity stripped? If not then she deserves the same opportunity as everyone else

If it is so personal, then why playing basketball in the US?
If Kate is so emotionally wrapped up in the conflict that she can't even be teammates with a girl that has shown zero animosity toward her just because of where the person was born then why isn't she over there serving like many men and women her age if not in actual uniformed service, then taking care of the many wounded and disabled soldiers?
The press release is only to try to force the NCAA to make an exception for her and if she does not get her way a lawsuit will be next.
The framing of this and the release with Ukraine colors etc. will be just another hit job on LSU athletics. Look at all of the bleeding hearts in the replies.

I really hate this for both sides. As a long time fan, I hate that we are in the position AGAIN of being thin in the post, without much height. By the same token, considering what her family has been through, I fully support Kate's feelings on this. I hate that it came to this, but I hold no ill will towards her for making a decision that I'm sure was difficult. But if I'd had family that was actively fighting against an enemy and / or been killed by that enemy, I might also make the same type of decision. Good luck Kate!
