There's been some post-match handshake drama in recent years when a Ukranian player played a Russian player.

Completely understand Kate’s point of view. But you can’t criticize Kim because she is doing what she is paid to do.

Lol at the people in this thread not understanding how delicate this situation is.
Do you think a 17 year old womens basketball player ordered the invasion? Do you think Russia has free and fair elections? Do you think it is legal for Russian citizens to criticize Putin and/or his military operations?

For all we know this 17 year old is against the war. If someone can point out where she's openly supporting it then I'll understand. But this seems that she just refuses to be near a Russian, which is all kinds of wrong and stupid.

Younger generations these days are weak as frick and will not survive in the real world.

I’ve worked alongside tons of people over the course of my career that came from different backgrounds, different countries, different ideologies and it never once crossed my mind to quit because of where they’re from, or what they stood for or believed.

Grow the frick up Kate.

Another person who doesn't get it.

You refuse to put yourself in Koval's shoes and are just mad that she left LSU.

It's not hard at all to see this from her perspective and why she made the clearly difficult decision, people just actively choose not to.

She found out about this in April but waited til August to bounce?

And now wants the NCAA to make an exception for her to go play for another team this season that has already started practices.

Honestly sounds like she was worried about her playing time.

Yeah, we should be like the older generations that put Japanese-Americans in camps because they were Japanese.

As close and impacted by the war as Kate has been, that would be so tough. I do agree though. Most Russians are vehemently opposed to the war. Kate could be an awesome person.

This is the problem with the world. Sports transcend politics. Unless the Russian player said or did something unacceptable , you build a relationship through sports and let it speak as an example of how we should get along as people.

Yeah, I'm just furious that WBB lost a player. Good one

If her and your perspective is that the citizens under a dictatorship that have no free speech and no say in military actions are responsible for the dictator's actions, then congrats on being a 'tard. Again, if u can show me where this Russian girl has supported Putin or his war then I understand her leaving 100%.

Is that supposed to be a comparison? It’s awful if so and not even remotely the same as this situation.

If Kate is this scared of civilian Russians, she should go back to Ukraine and join the military there then.

It’d be hilarious to see her pull this shite in corporate America if she was in a cubicle and her company hired a Russian to work next to her.

Really a bad look for her.

Because she was getting outplayed by the Russian and wasn't automatically guaranteed playing time.

What's she gonna do, run away from every Russian person she ever encounters in life?
You're in America sweetie. Suck it up buttercup.

Our parents and grandparents who fought or were around during World War II felt the same way about Germans and Japanese.

Kate's dad is putting his life in danger every day against the Russian invaders. Her feelings about the war are deeply and justifiably personal.

I respect her decision. Mulkey should have thought this through, but she might well have and decided that it wasn't worth the effort. Not the first time she has done something like that. (Brittney Griner, the Baylor sex scandals, etc.)

We love Kim, but she's her own woman. Probably what makes her a great coach.

The USSR broke up in 1991. It has been a Republic ever since and is not a communist state like many of you dumb fricks like to spew. As far as the war is concerned, Ukraine is getting every bit of what it deserves.
