re: Is it time yet for some crow eating pie?

I was, and still am an O doubter. In all of the hoopla (well deserved, I might add), the fanbase needs to tap the brakes a bit. I LOVE how our offense looks, and hope we sustain it. But this is a fact. O has put zero substantial skins on the wall. Ray Charles can see he has done a great job to this point (way better than I expected), but we need to at least make the playoffs this year, then sustain and build on what the team does this year. It's like a contractor you hire to add a room to your house. He's halfway through the job, and it looks fantastic. He still needs to install plumbing, wire, insulate, etc.. If he doesn't follow through with that, you are rightfully pissed. If we make the playoffs or better this year, O wins me over. Then he HAS to keep us in the hunt on a yearly basis. This is not a radical stance I have. I want LSU excelling no matter who the coach is.

When Coach O was hired all I kept saying was give the man a chance. At the worse he will fail and we will move on. Did I like the hire at the time, no I didn't. But the fact that this board was absolutely unbearable was an understatement.
It's getting close to that time on this one, and I'm one of the biggest critics of the hire. Things are definitely heading in the right direction, but he needs to finish the season strong. Still a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG way to go, but I couldn't be happier with the direction the team is moving.

Lets also throw in the hiring of Coach Ensminger who by the way is one of ours but was made to feel that he was one of theirs(Alabama). Again, all I said was give it a chance and let's see what happens. Well we are seeing what is happening! Coach O brings in Coach Brady to compliment Coach E for the time being. Great move!
I don't know why anyone would be asking if people should eat crow for criticizing the Ensminger hire. If anything, our success after bringing in Brady emphasizes that fact that maybe Ensminger was not the right hire. Without Brady, I'm not sure we're much different on offense then we were last year. I give Ensminger credit for letting Brady have his hands in the development in the offense.

They won’t and never will.

I am a old man.
You know how many LSU teams I've seen have a "letdown" at some point in a season that looked great?
99% of them is how many. Stop counting chickens before they hatch.

That is all we have to go on right now! I'm talking about right now today! I know anything can happen, but strictly right now today! Maybe I should have stated that.
Right now today we haven't played an SEC opponent and in order to compete for the SEC title you have to do that. So right now today we have one nice non-conference win which literally has no bearing on our first goal of competing for the SEC.

am saying that we wasted 2 years trying to get to a HUNH RPO offense hiring Canada and E who don't run that.
You think Canada was O’s idea or Aleva’s?
I think it was to give some fans the big splash hire when Kiffin turned it down.
How many JR’s left last year? It takes time to build a different culture.

Strange how this phrase seems to have no meaning anymore...
What I find funniest about this, is that for two seasons prior to this, guys like Nissan were running around here claiming that folks like me and others who have been critical of the hire and the job thus far would NEVER give any credit and were just waiting to say, "I TOLD YOU SO!!" if there was a failure. Despite explaining that was never the point and as LSU fans we'd be ECSTATIC if things turned around and we started winning, we were told we were lying.
And yet, two games into what looks like a promising beginning to the 2019 season with an offense we're all in love with, who is it that's found the megaphone and started clamoring, "I TOLD YOU SO!"
Exactly...

This ought to be good...
So who hired his first OC if not our head football coach or the AD? And feel free to provide a link.
Thanks.

Has he won an SEC championship? No? Nothing else to say

1. Who do you think o wanted? If it wasn't Canada it was probably E. which was also a terrible hire.
2. Ed Alexander falls in the "Should have stayed" catagory. White and Greedy also left, but were NFL ready.
3. I am saying there was never a "im gonn aleave early no matter what"culture. I am saying talented kids will leave early.
Realistically since he got here the "culture" was worse not better until this year when Lawrence and Fulton stayed.
But in 2016 LSU had Pocic, Tre White, and Beckwith return. 2015 La'el; Collins and Jalen Mills return.

I’ve tried to reserve judgment, because quite frankly, too many fans have already made up their mind in one direction or the other and once that happens, they refuse to take in facts and admit they are wrong. The current facts are that Saban had a .750 winning percentage at LSU, Miles a .770, and Orgeron is currently .750. If Orgeron gets near .800 and stays there, while competing for championships, then he’s an unqualified success. If he slips to around .700, then he’s a failure.

Now I want those crow eaters to come and take a big ole slice of that pie!
Because we beat Texas? That’s your expectations for an LSU coach? Jesus, you don’t think much of the program do you?
We all agree that LSU is TRENDING in the right direction. And props to coach O for getting that done. But until he, at the very least, wins us an SEC championship, it’s just more of the same but with a flashy offense.
Again, props to Coach O for what he has done so far. I’m impressed. But my expectations have always and will always be for hardware.

I'll eat all the crow I can get.
I hated the hire. I wanted him gone after Troy. 39-0 was miserable, but he then did what miles never did by finishing the season strong after the bama loss. It took shitty officiating and 7 OTs to give the only blemish at the end of last year.
Then we come out and end the annoying arse UCF streak by dominating them worse than the score shows.
He promised all off season that we'd have a spread offense finally. We've had a defense on the level of bama or Clemson for years, and he told us we would finally have the offense to match them too.
And then the mother fricker actually did it. We scored 42 in the first half of the first game. We scored 45 on the road to win an insane shootout against an elite offense. We scored on all but 1 second half drive and we used the offense to end the game late on 3rd and 17.
We aren't winning by keeping it close for 3 quarters and out conditioning teams in the 4th with our elite talent. We're actually using the elite talent to the best of their abilities to start fast and end fast. It's beautiful to watch and we have legitimate playoff hopes this year.

Is it just a coincidence that the offense actually finally improved once Woody came onboard? I guess we shall see...

I was always a supporter of O with a wait and see approach.
What I can eat some crow about was laughing at some of the folks(and I guess O as well) talking up the kind of season Burrow could have.

This is ridiculous. When it comes to the football program, the buck stops at Orgeron. He deserves the credit when things work, and the blame when they don't.
O promised the best OC in college football. Canada was the name at the top of that list, at the time, when plan A failed. O gets the blame for the hire, since it didn't work. He also gets the credit for fixing the problem.
How would feel if I tried to give Woodward the credit for getting the offense going? It's dumb as hell to make a claim like that.

Isn't the lack of self awareness from some people on this board shocking? He made a thread to call out a certain group, and then admitted in the same post that he was one of those people.
