It's not uncommon in college football, but it is uncommon at LSU. That's worthy of praising Orgeron for.

is means the story is incomplete. why are you trying to make a crow eating thread 2 games into the damn season?
Good point and I can use it the same. Why did every turn into lunatics without even giving the man a chance?

I said it when he was hired, and I will say it again now. Nothing would make me happier than if Ed Orgeron turns out out to be an amazing head coach. It looks like he is poised to prove me and other doubters wrong.
That said, the process by which he was hired was completely fricked up by our former AD. Generally shitty processes produce shitty results. Hoping this is an exception.

I will happily eat crow regarding Orgeron when we are in the CFP. I’m very excited about how this season started but we’re two weeks in.

I’m definitely eating appetizer crow right now. If we beat Bama or make the playoff, I’ll have to eat crow sushi. I think he’s doing a great job right now....much better than I believed he was capable of doing.

because even if it works out great, the hire made VERY little sense, based on resume.
people wanted better...how hard is that to comprehend. It was an extremely risky hire that may work out great. nothing more, nothing less

But the shrimp boat captain sux. Canada is the best offense of coordinator in the country. Shrimp boat captain only hires old people. Should I go on?

That's easy, because he had previously not earned that chance when he was hired. You could have listed 50 head coaches with more skins on the wall when Orgeron was hired. People were not wrong to be concerned. Had a proven head coach been hired, he would have been given more rope. Same can be said for the Ensminger hire.
It's important to also note that at one point every single great head coach was hired when other coaches seemed better. Had Saban fallen on his face at Michigan State and LSU, or Dabo at Clemson, they would not be given as much leeway at other jobs. They earned it though. Orgeron hadn't. This goes for every single coach. It's not specific to LSU and Orgeron.

I think O made an amazing hire with Brady.
I think it was bold, and he should get a lot of credit for identifying a young coaching talent and taking what i would consider a sizable risk hiring someone so young.
I honestly look at the Brady hire as a real turning point for O and the program.
I am just saying we got to this point through trial and error. His last two hires make no sense if this is the offense he wanted.

Great points!
Let's just keep this train going! One Team One Heart! Go Tigers!

What argument are you attempting to make here?

I’ll take mine grilled. The man has done infinitely better than I expected thus far. Things looked grim after the MSU blowout and Troy loss, but he bounced back with a vengeance. If he can manage to beat bama and make a playoff this year it will be one of the best stories in all of college football.

This is more evidence at how far the bar has been lowered at LSU. 10 years ago we expected to compete for SEC championships and potentially national championships. Now we're ready to declare success after 10-3 seasons and a single top 10 win to start the season. I hope we win the SEC this year and I think it's possible, but we really haven't done a whole hell of a lot yet.

If you leave an unattended pie outside long enough, I'm sure a crow could eventually show up to eat it.

1.Going after Burrow
2.Going after a kicker
3.Adding depth to both lines of scrimmage
4.Changing the culture of JR's leaving early when they had no business leaving
5.Hiring analyst
6. Getting rid of sloppy in game management
etc.....
You're trying to make it sound like he stumbled onto Brady and that's been the only difference. You want to know why? Because you had your head up your _____ for three years trying to find "I told you so's" to prove a point.

After Game 2?
Have we already won the SECW, made it to Atlanta, won an SEC title and waiting to hear about playoff spot? No?
Here's what I'll be happy to say though...
After YEARS and YEARS of waiting to see the modernization of LSU's offense, Orgeron absolutely FINALLY went out and hired a guy to do it. He gets a ton of credit for that, even though the first two seasons' worth of attempt failed badly. The team has been prepared to play, are executing well, and have started the season great. Huge win over a VERY good Texas team on the road.
It's finally a great start into being a coach that could put up numbers equal to or better than the guy we fired...so as of Game 2 of the beginning of his third season as head coach he's now living up to the expectations of this job.
But, the season is still young. While he will continue to get credit for allowing the offense to be modernized, it needs to STAY that way. No taking the foot off the pedal or easing back into being more conservative as we get into the SEC. Also, we have to either beat BAMA and win the SECW, or play them tight enough to warrant a rematch in the playoffs. Putting up gaudy numbers is great, but at the end of the day he's been hired to right the ship and get back to mining hardware.

Self serving OP thread.
My excitement about the Brady hire is well documented in my post history, but yeah, outside of that I've been critical of the hire and the knee jerk manner it was made, from day 1. I think 0 was not sure how to execute the binder promises, and totally botched the Canada thing and OC thing in general.
But, loved the high risk/reward of the Brady hire. And obviously still do. I'll be happy and eager to eat crow if the season plays out as I hope.

Youre the one ignoring his first 2 full years at LSU.
We had analysts in 2017 and 2018. We had Juniors leave in 2017 and 2018.
And we went 19-7.
I am not saying eh stumbled onto Brady. I think he made a great hire, and did a great job finding a guy who impressed him.
I am saying that we wasted 2 years trying to get to a HUNH RPO offense hiring Canada and E who don't run that.
