In Depth Case for Freeze

He was the HC of Lambuth.
Freeze went 8-4 and 12-1 in two seasons. The season before he arrived was 3-8. An IMMEDIATE turnaround.
That's development.
He was the HC of Arkansas St. Freeze is the reason Arkansas St has been competitive in the modern era.
4-8 before he arrived. 10-3 when he arrived. An IMMEDIATE impact. Mahlzahn & Harsin followed Freeze's success; not the other way around.
Again, development.
He was the HC of Ole Miss.
2-10 before he arrived. First season, Ole Miss went 7-6 with a bowl win. Immediate impact, again. He peaked at 10-3 with a sugar bowl win. That's overachieving for Ole Miss in the SECW.
He is the HC of Liberty.
6-6 before he arrived. 8-5 in his first year. 10-1 in his second year.
Again, IMMEDIATE results.
Freeze has been a successful OC & Recruiting Coordinator.
He calls his own plays and is an offensive genius.
BUT HIS PERSONAL ISSUES? His recruiting violations are a non-issue now that NIL is here.
He had mutual sex with escorts. Wrong considering his Christian confessions? Yes. He's done his time.
Time for a second chance at LSU?!
Give me Freeze!
Let's quickly compare that to these guys:
Fickell - Cinci has been successful for a long time without him. See Brian Kelly. Doesn't mean he can't coach but how confident are we that it's because of Fickell?
Napier - Been successful in only 1 stop. Seems too risky for LSU.
Chadwell - Been successful at multiple stops but never at P5 level. I'm open to Chadwell!
Kiffin - Successful at FAU & Ole Miss. Failed at Raiders & USC. Personality is too risky IMO.
Compared to the above:
Freeze is a no-brainer!!!

He likes hookers, allegedly, and we already have Title IX issues thanks our current coach who likes blonde hookers.

Edit: you also forget that HC hires have to be approved by the SEC. Not a snowball’s chance in Hell that happens.

Readers of the Old Testament are against him. I’m not sure if I want him. He’s definitely a good coach though. I’d take him over what we have now.

LSU will not be hiring a coach this year with scandals in his background. Admins have zero appetite for it. It is what it is.

Kiffin has "scandals" too. I find the case against him to be too strong.
See Petrino. Even O had his own issues at one point.
See Steve Sarkisian. Former alcoholic who fired because of it.
Now we're going to alienate Freeze? I just don't get it.

I love the idea of Freeze but due to title ix investigations and the current blunders of an overbearing runoff at the mouth coach, LSU is probably going the safe route. This next hire will be "free from Wednesday issues" (meaning no off the field issues, no out of line comments, and most importantly NO UNWARRANTED ATTENTION). Freeze has had the ability to reimagine himself, but still is seen as damaged goods.
Simultaneously, Freeze with LSU talent, recruiting advantage, offensive scheme & facilities = perennial national championship contender.

2. Baby Briles - regardless of “being cleared”. He was on staff and his last name cannot be denied. Women, specifically, Legislative ones, will be relentless as will that women that broke all of the cover up.
3. Meyer - I can’t believe anyone would ever mention his name, but let me list: recent videos, Hernandez at UF, women beating at tOSU. Should I continue?
4. Bob Stoops - beating of RB while he was HC, that’s why he quit.
5. Kiffin - probably has more questionable embarrassing issues and may end up wirh an interview. He isn’t intense enough and very likely not nearly organized well enough to manage that job.

We shouldn’t be, ALL these coaches have side pieces. Les, Nick, Ed... they were all getting arse. Ed’s actually the only one that’s doing it as a single man thpugh.
But his public issues aren’t ideal and the on field coaching would have to well exceed the off field issues to get hired.

I remember when Urban Meyer was hired at Ohio St. The "OPTICS" were bad. Some backlash from media & fans.
Then 3 years later, people started asking "is Urban the actual GOAT over Saban?"
Remember that?! I do.
Why? Because he was winning.
The problem? Urban had a repeat of stepping away from a program and jumping around jobs.
The question I'd be asking if I was Woodward is:
What accountability is Freeze willing to embrace?
How would he handle difficult questions from the media & fans?
Etc.
I bet Freeze would be open at a place like LSU.
By the way, Freeze's wife stayed with him. Seems like people close to him feel there has been genuine change?

I would be all in for Coach Freeze. I think he would be here for many years with a ton of success. He would put a product on the field that Tyga fans could be proud of.
