You do realize Kelly is the most successful coach LSU has ever hired. There is a reason the national media was pissed he left Notre Dame for Baton Rouge.

Had lsu hired an assistant coach with no head coaching experience after paying Orgeron’s buyout, the fanbase would have rioted. Most of the fanbase wanted Lincoln Riley. How is he doing? The coaching search prior, people wanted Tom Herman. What’s he up to these days?
Boom!

Oregon plays no one.

You guys are maters of Monday morning quarterbacking. Wasn't Lincoln Riley the guy most ranters were hoping for?

On this day another post was made from someone who also doesn't have a clue.

It almost doesn’t matter who Oregon has as a coach with the unlimited NIL money they have the talent will always be elite.

Oregon plays no one. If you think they will win the NC, I am happy to take that bet. An SEC will win it all, it’s just matter of which one.

Boise St isn’t a Top 10 team. They’re only ranked that high because Oregon didn’t beat them more soundly. They beat UNLV (not a real Top 25 team) by 5, which the only thing even approaching a legitimate win. They won by 1 score over 2-10 Nevada and 3-9 Wyoming and were only up 13-7 on 5-7 Hawaii with 12 minutes left. They gave 45 points and only won by 11 against Georgia Southern. That’s not a Top 10 resume. They just had an exceptionally weak schedule apart from Oregon.

Was Lanning on our radar? Did we pass him over? What did I miss?

Lanning wasn't on many people's radar even for the Oregon job until right before it happened. The hot names were Chip Kelly, Justin Wilcox, Lane Kiffin, and Kalani Sitake. Even Bryan Harsin's name came up before Lanning's did

Dan Lanning would be 9-3 or 8-4 playing in the SEC week after week three years ago LSU had 36 scholarship players for BK to have virtually an identical record to Sabin in while having to navigate NIL and follow the Ed O meltdown is pretty remarkable. Hang tight better days coming

Oregon has an endless pocket book with Nike sponsorship.
College football will never be the same.

Is that also when they hired Phil Knight?
He's made it clear he will 'spare no NIL deal in pursuit of a natty'. At 86 he'll be doing if for a few more years, then it will be intersting to see if others at Nike continue.
Good friend who is a MD grad shared a story with me (sadly I can't confirm the veracity). UA CEO (Kevin Plank) is a MD alum. It sounds like he asked his team and MD how much would it take to win a natty. They said over $100M and over a few years to put it together....he passed on the option.
Sadly what we have now in CFB is NOT what has brought so much anticipation and enjoyment to us all over the last 20 years. They are going to lose fans/interest, but until it impacts their bottom line, they won't care.

They are 7-1 in the SEC, the 6 of the wins are against the bottom of the league including MSU and UK who are a combined 1-15. The best team they played beat them by 15 at home

Oregon was in a much better spot than LSU at that time
