Why not Aranda?

Georgia seemed to do alright in hiring a a defensive coordinator with no prior head coaching experience.

The better question is why do some think O was our ONLY option?

Because he is Cajun. Plain and simple

LMFAO. You serious Clark? You talking about disaster? We have O. Very few hires would rate as a worse disaster. We have the coach no one wanted. Hell FAU would have laughed him off campus, but you believe Muffin whom turned around said FAU would be disaster. Get O's sick out your throat

Proof read before trying to come at me you illiterate prick.

Would love to hire Muffin, you fricking retard Hahahaha

With the benefit of hindsight I'm thinking maybe Mullen

Even without hindsight I thought at the time Mullen would have been a good hire. But the problem was not who we hired, rather how we hired him. Without going through the process of a coaching search, how can we have any confidence that Orgeron was the best option available?

Mullen and Kiffin should have been the next calls after Herman and Jimbo.
I would have been apprehensive about Kiffin had we hired him last year, but hindsight being what it is, I would have been much more hopeful today.

Both would've probably been long term hires.

Frost probably would've made his way to Nebraska.

Fleck and Fedora, are probably much better coaches than O, but I don't know how well they'd fit here. I'd probably still be happier with them though..

Aranda probably would've been my third choice after Mullen and Kiffin.

Gundy isn't leaving, or he'd be #1.

I was hoping we’d pay either Herman or Jimbo whatever they wanted. Signing Aranda to a 2 year contract would have been my third choice

I would have preferred Kiffen. The process actually pisses me off more than the hire. I like Gundy but I don't think he will ever leave OSU.

The issu is much deeper than simply hiring O.

As much as I dislike him as head coach, at least if Alleva has done a proper search and could literally get no one else, it would be easier to accept.

The fact is, Alleva had almost an entire season to find, vet and hire a competent head coach. And after his first 2 choices didn’t drop down and kiss his arse, he said “frick it, I’ve got a d line coach who wants it”.

He said “I am the search” and did t even search beyond choices A,B and last resort.

I thought firing Miles at the time of the year that they did was a bad move.

I think when you are going to fire a coach, you wait until the end or just before the end of the season. I think the outcome last year would have been the same had Miles stayed. I think that when you fire a guy like Miles who is perhaps the winningest coach by percentage in the program's history (or very close to it) it poisons the well of potential big or even up and coming coaching candidates. I know of from a board member that Alleva couldn't get beyond the initial phone call with at least two of the names on the back up list

If we had not fired Miles after the Auburn game and waited or fired him on Thanksgiving night 2 years ago, I think we would have gotten a coach that would have made some of you on TD cream in your pants.

what would have been a better decision than hiring Coach O last fall?

literally any coordinator thats proven they can run a decent side of the ball.
there are dozens coordinators more qualified.

he just took a team of 52 4 and 5 star players and lost 4 games with the easiest schedule since the turn of the century.

Is this where I list the coach I wanted and then you list his record this year and how Orgeron was just as good or better than that guy, therefore that clearly makes O the superior coach?

naw, we know the only time records matter is when we are talking about Coach O's tenure at Ole Miss

UL performed a real coaching search. Maybe LSU should take notes.

Completely forgot that Chip Kelly was on the way out of SF last year. He was my #1 and we should’ve waited till he was fired.

If O doesn't get it done that should be our first call.

He is at FAU now and that sets up well for us to get him. Plus he doesn't like Saban at all .

He can recruit and develop QB's.

I do not look forward to playing him at Florida

If he can kick our arse at MSU, don't want to think about what he can do with resources at Florida

Bingo you are correct sir. I've said it before , I heard multiple people call in on WWL and basically say he's from here so he should get the job plain and simple. They said his previous stint at Ole Miss didn't matter and that him being a Cajun is what matters most. True story.

98% of the fan base trashed the thought of Mullen becoming our next head coach last year.

What a difference a year makes
