As a parent, where does one go from here? Can't even imagine...

We had close family friends growing up. a couple my folks were good friends with had a son (only child) 2 days after I was born (only child).

Fast forward 34 years. Their son's two year old was murdered by his ex wife's boyfriend who "couldn't handle the crying" one day. A year later he (the son - my buddy) died of unmanaged diabetes (type 1 - which wasn't diagnosed until he was like 25 somehow). He was found by his father, after 48 hours, in his car.

The mom has been bed ridden ever since (8 years? geez) and quickly developed Alzheimer's. Such tragedy for such Godly people.

I imagine I'd let (help) myself fall apart and die too. At least there is hope for believers!

Prayers for the Faulk family during this incredibly difficult time.

Ohio State beat a Texas team who beat an A&M team that ran LSU out of their own building.

ahh yes. transitive property. Ohio State beat a Texas team who lost to a Florida team that we ran out of the building. We're AT least as good as Ohio State and we suck. so they're overrated.
That's a nice looking home schedule. Bama, Texas, A&M, Clemson.

With a 9 game schedule will it be 5 home and then 5 away the next year?

Have you seen BYU play? They have zero business being anywhere near a playoff or any kind.

I mean. One team would have 2 losses against teams with a combined 1 loss. One team would have 3 losses against teams with a combined 8 losses.

No P4 team with an 11-1 record has ever been ranked outside the top 10. In fact, only 4 out of 40 P4 teams have ever been ranked worse than 8th nationally with an 11-1 record.

I don't GAF if you think they don't deserve to be near the playoff but if you say that then surely you'll say the same about Bama.
The committee has said that you won't be punished for losing conference championship.

This is what is behind Bama being confident in getting in whether they win or lose.

Ok fine.. But why is 11-2 BYU eliminated after losing their conference championship game and 10-3 Bama would not be?
This when googling "is byu in the playoffs?"

No, BYU is not in the College Football Playoff (CFP); they were eliminated after losing to Texas Tech in the Big 12 Championship game on December 6, 2025, failing to secure an automatic bid as a conference champion. Despite an 11-2 record, their loss to Texas Tech, who won the Big 12 title, ended their playoff hopes, making them the first team out of the 12-team field.

Losing conference championship won't keep you out of playoffs
unless youre 11-2 BYU and not 10-3 (hypothetically) Alabama?

Seems like another effin asterix. Like everything involving Bama football.

I think you're getting some bad re-con.

I'm sure you're right. I trust you more than Gemini. I'm just betting the curve stays the same with lower totals across the board.

Meaning 6 "Blue Bloods" and 5 or 6 programs right behind those guys with LSU arguably being the best of that bunch.

So yes. we've been inconsistent. but very few programs have more sustained winning.

All blue bloods.

Exactly. We have the bluest blood of all non blue bloods. We should be inducted next time they do such things??? lol.

7th best program (arguably much higher by other metrics) in the last 60 years is pretty damn good. Don't tell me how inconsistent we've been (even if you're generally right).

Meeechigan has nowhere near the recruiting footprint we do.

"nowhere near" is subjective but Michigan is averaging around the 12th ranked class over the last 5 years. LSU is 7th. There's typically a noticeable gap between 7 and 12 but I'm not sure id say "nowhere near."

They've had enough to beat OSU 4 out of the last 5. OSU has averaged the 3rd best class over the last 5 years.

I can definitely agree with one thing. We have done a "better" job than any team I can come up with at squandering talent. maybe with the exception of Texas and Texas AM..I'm very hopeful Kiffin will utilize our players much more efficiently.

. It was a little bit of an eye-opener. LSU been everything except consistently very good. 2001-2011 was, by far the best, most consistent stretch of very good football in the 133 year history.

Just some perspective.

This isn't really perspective without comparison. Through my exhaustive research in the past 5 minutes, I believe there are only about 6 teams with more 2 or less loss seasons (in the last 60 years)

OSU, Michigan, Bama, Nebraska, USC, and Oklahoma.

Gemini told me 19 (not 12) for LSU in the last 60 years though.
2019, 1969, 1971, 2003, 2011, 1966, 1968, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1987, 1996, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2017.

Will it be LSU and OSU duopoly next several seasons?

Why? because we hired Kiffin? I doubt it.. Are Bama, Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon suddenly quitting football?

If Michigan hired Kiffin would you think that it'd just be OSU and Michigan until Kiffin and Day died?

I love the spot we're in but to think we're going to start some sort of Bama dynasty next year is a little too optimistic for me.

In 4 years, the most notable thing about Sumrall will be that he did more with Tulane than UF.

What good is playoff experience when you're sitting at home?

Like every game? which is why betting is a bad idea.

Only fools take advice from fools.

Texas’ close loss to Ohio State (AT OSU) kept them out of the playoff this year.

I mean... losing to 4-8 UF is REALLY what did them in. They wouldve been passed by other teams if OSU never happened and they beat UTSA while still losing to Florida.

I think this is my bad. haven't watched a game this season but they were 7-0 and facing a 4-4 ACC team, up by 11 at the half.

As soon as I turned it on they tied it up.

I’ll never forget 2015 when LSU was considering firing Les Miles and Rece Davis was talking down to LSU and saying “Why fire Miles? who do you think you can get?! You’re not a blue blood”.

2015 was right around when the ole Nebraska blue bloods were firing Mike Riley in favor of Scott Frost. The rich get richer!!

I'm good with being LSU.

I know I’m biased in this, and while Bama is probably a better job than LSU, I really don’t think the difference is that big.

This is the same thing ole miss fans were saying last week. Just sayin..

If Bama wanted to pull him they probably could. I doubt they would want to though.

This! I haven't seen Kiffin do many interviews or pressers and honestly thought a younger "up and comer" would be better but I'm absolutely pumped about him after seeing this.

Why would a team give Jimbo Fisher a 75 mil buyout without one conference title ? Lane's team will make the playoffs. Did Jimbo ever do that ?

I thought Jimbo won a Natty? Maybe not through the "playoffs" but it was who they wanted and who they got.
Didn't work out like basically every coaching hire ever.

The ridiculous contracts are the problem.

OU: 16-9 since joining, 8-8 in conference...but 6-2 in conference this year including wins over BAMA, TENN, Michigan, MIZ, LSU in year two and a shoe in for the playoff. Has not faced UGA through two seasons, but on the schedule for 2026. Year one everyone wants to forget, but helluva bounce back in year two.

I thought OU was going to be really good but not quite good enough to get into the playoffs but I'm actually kind of glad they made it at LSUs expense (most recently).
