O told them Urban was retiring again and Ohio State contacted him after last night's game.
Look for another Powerball contract close to the last Miles extension.

It's all about the buyout.....extensions mean absolutely nothing in this day and age....he needs a long enough contract to recruit effectively....as long as the buyout is reasonable, it won't matter

While I agree with you, you seem to forget who is negotiating this extension.

Alleva is tied to the hip with O so Alleva will be more than happy to give O another ridiculous buyout because it keeps O here longer when he flops.

We basically just went 10-2 when most fans were predicting 7-5/6-6. This is so fricking stupid.

You know that Les had fallen off. He had also lied about fixing the offense.

non-LSU and media predictions are the bar against which we judge the future of our program and the multi-million dollar contracts that are a part of it?

If that's what we go by, we have even bigger problems than we knew.

I can see goal making session with Alleva now:

- Alleva: ok, so what will this incentive be based on?
- Orgeron: whatever the Miami Herald says it is.

They have to give him one for recruiting. If not, it will be open season on him for negative recruiting and that crap scares away recruits more than anything. The key is to not increase his buyout at all so it can be gotten out of, if necessary.

You will get yelled at for saying this, but it is absolutely 100% true. Contracts and extensions are meaningless outside of the buyouts.
Let's put these two truths (IMHO) together and see if Alleva comes to the same conclusion:

Extension for recruiting purposes that includes a much reduced buyout.

If he doesn't deserve the buyout, which I do not think he does, but we need one for recruiting purposes, which is a valid point... sort of, and buyout is what really matters, but the extension is the 'publicly digestible' part of it- do that. Minimal buyout with extension.

Coach o was hired because it kept Aranda on staff. His contract should be tied to retaining Aranda. Without him we’re screwed.

O needs to show what he can do over three year period not one year. Would be stupid to extend him now. See if the program improves and he can improve recruiting before giving him more years because he had an above average year. Smh

And bringing in Kiffin which is the first promise he broke. And without Kiffin our offense has been screwed so...there is that.
