Didn’t the current coach make similar promises? How’s that working out? By your own logic O should be fired as well.

What makes you think Derek "convinced" everyone of this?? I heard the national media say this.

You’re clinically insane if you don’t think LSU won that game

Orgeron deserves and should get an extension. If we do not we will lose several high profile recruits.

Dude, chill out. In 2 full seasons, he's 9-4 and 9-3, can get to 10-3, and you want to fire him already? Are you insane?

That got Miles fired.

What’s different about O?

No we won’t. He has 3 full seasons remaining, it can be addressed next year without an impact to recruiting.

regardless of what the scoreboard said, LSU did more than enough to earn the win @ A&M on Saturday to finish the regular season 10-2. That isn’t even up for debate

Alleva knows that his job is attached to O...of course he’s gonna try to extend him.

Because Starting next season O will at least have some of his recruits playing. Not all recruits come in as freshmen and dominate. Let them get stronger and gain some football intelligence.

I said from the beginning that barring a meltdown, O will get at least 4 years. This hasn’t changed. He may get bought out after the 4th year if things aren’t moving in the right direction.

But they didn't. Regardless of what they did, they lost. They finished the regular season at 9-3. That isn't even up for debate.

I want the offense changed.

Next year we most likely have every O linemen returning, every receiver, Burrow, and a upgrade at running back.

If we are still ranked 70-100 in total offense and we have another 9-3 10-2 season then a change definitely needs to be made.

O is getting an extension because LSU wants to be able to say he has (at least) 4 years remaining on his contract. Like it or not, the lack of a long term contract is used to negative recruit coaches.

That said, I'm ok with an extension IF it isn't guaranteed (i.e. factors into a buyout).

O has zero, repeat, ZERO negotiating leverage. No one else in the country would consider bringing him in as their HC nor pay him $3.5 mill to do it. If Alleva guarantees another 1, 2, 3 years, then he ought to be fired on the spot unnecessarily costing LSU money. There is no sound business reason to guarantee O's salary outside of the 3 years remaining on his initial deal.
