Dude we are talking about the same AD that gave O a buyout.. a fricking buyout with nothing positive on his resume.

I’d like to see
1) better Oline play
2) OC improvemt

I really believe 1 will have positive impact on 2.

It’s the weirdest thing because LSU was realistically knocking on the door of being in the playoffs. The Florida loss was a very close game (we should have won, no excuses). This past game was pure insanity but again we should have won, no excuses. We are recruiting decently/pretty solid, bu still lack recruits at the most glaring position of need on the OL. I think if everyone is being fair we can all say that we as a fanbase didnt expect LSU to be a playoff contender this season, and we are literally a few breaks away from being 11-1 right now. Orgeron has possibly over acheived to this point considering how close we really were this season. Have to give credit. All that being said, I think this team coasted on having superior talent (like we did in literally every single game we play with the exception of one per year) and having Aranda on this staff along with a solid foundation of other coaches. Orgeron promised briniging in the best coordinators and has not done that, and if anything has done the opposite of that by promoting from within, which is obviously due to an insecurity of placing someone that has HC aspirations at the OC spot. I honestly think O knows he’s in over his head and it will be glaringly obvious by what he does with the OC situation in a month or so.

If he hires a blue chip guy (Briles - likely gone to Tx St, Kingsbury, etc) and doesnt dabble AND LSU wins 11 games next season, then and only then you extend him. If that exact scenario doesnt happen, then we are only delaying the inevitbale and will live in mediocrity for the long haul. This is a very important time for the strength of this program and it can either tip into serious championship contender within the next 1-2 seasons or implode.

Edit: Also, with all that being said, I think Alleva is a complete idiot and seems to never have even a decent a grasp on the situation at hand, so expect Orgeron to get a 5 yr extension with a solid buyout that is in no way beneficial to LSU at all because obviously teams are knocking down the door to come after Orgeron. Id be wiling to bet that Alleva sucks at playing poker as well.

“ lame duck”

Doesn’t coach O have three years left on his contract after this season is over? If so, what’s the rush to re-up a head coach who hasn’t improved LSU a lick based on game performance?

But they didn't. Regardless of what they did, they lost. They finished the regular season at 9-3. That isn't even up for debate.

Yes they did. They earned the win and it was stolen from them by the refs multiple times. Not up for debate

how many in this thread lobbying for an extension because of "muh recruiting" when the man has 3 fricking years left on a 5 year deal?

Every recruit thinks they'll be in the NFL after 3 years anyways, so why extend him?

Agreed. The recruiting excuse for an extension is absolutely asinine.

You don't even extend him then. See how 2019 season turns ot then consider it. Gene frickin Chizik won a national title. Flash in the pan seasons can and do happen for coaches. Not saying that's what O is, but let's be sure before we sign him up for millions more.

Why would this be new? You mouthbreathers riot because a 3rd down call didn't work out. Why would I expect any different because you didn't get your way with a football coach?

That said, I'm ok with an extension IF it isn't guaranteed (i.e. factors into a buyout).

I don't see how a non-guaranteed extension prevents negative recruiting.

"Sure they just gave him a one year extension, but it isn't guaranteed. They could fire him tomorrow for the same amount they could have fired him for yesterday. Doesn't seem like they have a whole lot of faith in him, does it?"

I was all for an extension had Orgeron won out after the Alabama loss. Seasons of 9 and then 11 wins would have shown improvement and earned it for Edward.

Woulda shoulda coulda. He hasn't done enough to warrant an extension in my opinion.

Why don't you lead the charge to riot ? I suspect you haven't been involved in many riots , or anywhere you might get hurt. With you upfront there would be a possibility of you catching a round between your eyes, putting you out of your misery. Seeing as how you're a huge TAF contributor , just go to the top, and demand a change , and name the next coaching staff. Please riot. Please.

I just had to add a little something.
LSU beats Miami on neutral field, then ranked #5
beats Auburn at Auburn , then ranked #6
beats Georgia ranked #2
beats Miss St ranked 18
lost to Alabama ranked 1
lost to Florida ranked 11
lost to A&M ranked #22
And with this record idiots want the AD fired HC fired & whole coaching staff canned. Riot. Please riot.

I think giving O an extension is a bad idea. But Alleva recently gave Coleman-Vargas an extension, when many ADs would have shown her the door. So it would not be a surprise if Alleva did it.

I do concede the Tigers exceeded the expectations of many before the season, and the coaches did contibute.

That being said, LSU is in a tough spot. If you don’t extend him, you know the old argument: can’t recruit effectively with lame duck status hanging over him.

I say cut bait now then, because there isn't a swinging dick that deserves a contract extension, but there are some that deserves a pink slip!
