This. NO ONE WANTS O. He did a good job this year but zero points to Bama and it's all for naught. ZERO FRICKEN POINTS

Aranda should not receive another raise until the defense improves to a higher level. That’s not even debatable.

I think he deserves a raise. He is one of the lowest paid HC's in the SEC and has proven to be a solid coach. I would hold off giving an extension until after the 2019 season however. WE need to see if he is more than just a 'solid coach' before an extension happens. He will get his chance at that in 2019 and 2020. This bowl game will have some say in all this as well. Win this bowl game and we finish in the top 10 for the first time in 7 years, lose and we end up in the mid teens. We finished the regular season at #11 in the CFP, higher than we have in a long time.

No, because their is no demand for his services. I will add why should give him a raise when he has yet to improve the program or the one the field product since he was hired. You don't a raise in real life by doing the bare minimum of your job requirements. You earn a raise by out performing your requirements.

nah

Orgeron's pay is appropriate (maybe high) when you consider the salary requirements of his coordinators.

IF we win the bowl game, I would give O the following completely new contract...

5 years at $4 mil a year with bonus structure

buyout of $1 mil per year left on contract.

I'd certainly be ok with that. Obviously, Orgeron wouldn't go for that.

His salary should be based on current market and performance...

That said he should get a raise when compared to his peers!

I don't want excuses. I want hardware.

And until Orgeron has some trophies in his Wikipedia page he can take what he has and be happy with the job or he can go frick himself.

Win a trophy then he can have a raise. End of story

jptiger: Raises are not predicated on who "wants" someone! No one wanted the Tigers either...evidence: the low national expectations. The guy you don't want turned national sneers into moderate respect. O isn't the one who has the problem; blind, selfish, prejudiced, spoiled, entitled, crass, ignorant small people do.

I'd allow an extension for the whole recruiting thing. But no increase of the buyout. It stays the same as is (ala still reducing year over year). But the contract would be extended another year.

Compared to his “peers”, he not entitled to a raise.

The problem with this is he sacrificed money to have higher paid coordinators

You have to look at the total staff budget. If we're required to have a defensive coordinator that earns more than most FBS coaches then the ceiling for the head coach is lower.

I hope everyone gets raises and extensions. Might as well go full retard now.
RIP LSU football.

Because in big time college football coaches coach on 4+ year contracts and when that contract is in jeopardy of reaching 3 or less years the coach gets an extension and a raise. Again, this isn't an LSU thing, it's a college football thing. I don't see why this is so hard to grasp. LSU can't, won't, and shouldn't go against the grain in this situation.

What I say to that is plainly no. Why? Because LSU needs to use the common idea of demand here.

Is there a demand for Orgeron right now? No. It's rather simple.

I agree with this. Nobody is coming after Orgeron to poach him away from LSU. Orgeron knows he isn't leaving LSU. Alleva needs to grow some damn balls. Let him play out his contract and reevaluate it after it's done. If someone does happen to come after him, so be it. I believe LSU can do better anyway.

“ he deserves a raise”

Our last coach who ended the season with three losses in a 12 game year came within a whisker of being fired, but three years later another coach in a 13 game yr with three losses deserves a raise???

No, our expectations haven’t changed at all.
