bonus incentives are within the current contract.

I think he gets a nice bonus for a bowl win...a NY6 bowl win at that.

He deserves what's in his contract. Unless there are other suitors, there's no reason to go beyond that.

This isn't me hating on Orgeron. He's done better than I ever expected. I want him to continue!

But, the current set-up at LSU is to pay coordinator(s) $$$. That's why the next step is to replace the OC with another bombshell.

I have no issue with a raise. No need to give an extension or increase the buy out. Yes this team exceeded expectations, but we are still swimming in the same problems on offense and the attempts to fix it aren’t getting us any further along.

He signed a 5 yr contract, during that time I would expect he and Joe discussed expectations. I would hope the expectations would be higher than 9 wins, meaning 10+ wins would merit a raise, not 9. Personally, at this moment only winning the SEC would merit a raise. Just look at the situation is currently in with Gus. Why go through that here?

Coach O's raise should become effective when HE becomes effective. The only way to measure his effectiveness is the fans' perception of him and the team's success. Using that metric, he has not been very effective this year.

More successful than we anticipated this year? Absolutely.

So successful that we should give him a raise and extension? If so, I'm putting my application in with LSU Athletics because they have pretty low standards and I could shine like a new nickel in a goat's arse.

This is what kills me about the "Alleva only cares about the bottom line crowd"

No he doesnt. He's incompetent at best. If all he cared about was the bottom line, he'd tell O to pound sand and we'll revisit this when your contract is up.

I dont want to sound like a complete conspiracy theorist, but something is up and there's an active attempt to sew mediocrity in our FB program. SEC paying us to do stupid things?

You would give the highest paid DC a raise after this year? you will never be in charge of people

The only way O should get a raise is if the money comes directly out of the budget for the compliance department as it relates to testing for PEDs and weed. Whatever money is allocated for those employees and test to be administered can be added to O's contract. This would effectively eliminate one major hindrance LSU football has that the major schools in college football do not currently face.

But, are these goals set by the company or some newspaper that has no clue what is actually going on at the company?

That's the problem here. People are saying O exceeded expectations, but when they speak of those expectations, they reference what the sports media had them projected to do. You should never set your expectations as a program based on what the media says. If O and company had season expectations as 6-6 or 7-5, that is sad but you could say he exceeded them. However, I don't think one person believes that's the expectations for this program set by the staff. At the minimum, they should have the goal as at least 10 wins in the regular season and competing for SEC championships and playoff berths, not 9 wins and a chance at 10 after a bowl game.

I think ole boy from Tiger Rag was saying that he's expecting Orgeron to get a raise considering what he's paid vs other SEC coaches.

Not if his contract isn't up.

People keep saying that the preseason predictions were outperformed yet ignore that outside of the UGA game, LSU didn’t exceed any expectation and in fact did match what they should have. Auburn and Miami were way worse than expected. 10-2 at worst and being competitive with Alabama should’ve been the expectation but instead they go 9-3, get embarrassed with the worst loss to Bama in 16 years. Just because you beat UGA doesn’t erase the fact that you lost 3 games.

In the end, what O and his supporters did was lower the bar immediately once it was obvious he was in over his head. That is not how championship programs are run and exactly why Millenials are so entitled. The bar is lowered to make them winners and the same is being done for O.

He can get a no raise extension with no buyout added and like it, and the only reason for that is to at least fake the idea of stability.

God... why didn't you just make USC hire O... it was his true "dream job" after all! What has LSU done to deserve the torture of O, E, Joe, and F. King?

O produced a winning season, beating several ranked teams and missed having 10 regular season wins because of official malfeasence. LSU now has the #3 recruiting classs. Being the bargain basement coach that he is, he deserves a raise and a big one.

LSU has been Comedy Central for several years now.

LSU fires Les Miles only to hire Ed Orgeron.
LSU fires Matt Canada only to hire Steve Ensminger.
LSU makes Aranda highest paid Assistant that has regressed from his first year.
And many more.

How much money has LSU blown away?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I have difficulty wrapping my head around the notion that LSU OWES Orgeron anything. He was given a job that he was hopelessly unqualified for on the basis of his resume and on the basis of a search (and cloak and dagger) that robbed the decision of what little credibility it merited. Ed should be thankful every day for where he is and what he is paid.

I agree with this, and I'd say and hope that Orgeron is humble enough to know this.

The point of this thread wasn't to point out that Orgeron doesn't deserve a raise. It was to point out that LSU is crazy to even convey the need to approach Orgeron receiving a raise.

But, if this is something Orgeron is asking for, then I can't blame him. But, I'd then again ask him to humble himself. This job is so much bigger than him. That's not to say he can't continue to succeed. Relatively speaking, Orgeron has been in over his head. You can't blame him for taking the Ole Miss job when he did, but it was just too soon and a bad decision considering the dumpster fire that was Ole Miss at the time.

Orgeron can coach and win at LSU; that's now proven.

Can he win championships? Do that, Orgeron, and then we can make you a high-paid, highly desired coach.

All that said, if Orgeron was fired today, I feel very confident that (unlike Les Miles), he'd be hired by someone else tomorrow...

“ to get a raise”

You must not have heard that the guy who made the call to hire coach O has already announced his opinion that Coach O is doing a “great” job. ADs who think a coach they hired is doing a “great” job will give that coach both extensions and raises. It seems, based off his bosses assessment, it’s not if but when the extension will be made official.

I don’t know when 7 losses in under two years with one of those losses being pretty freaking embarrassing became great job worthy for LSU, but I guess I’m just not seeing the big picture.

I also don’t know when having one of the worst offenses in the SEC and worse than what we had in 2015, became worthy of the description “great job”.

I guess my “hate” is blinding me to all the elite results taking place in LSU football since the coaching change. lol
