IF we win the bowl game, I would give O the following completely new contract...

5 years at $4 mil a year with bonus structure

buyout of $1 mil per year left on contract.

I heard it in the radio this afternoon. I think ole boy from Tiger Rag was saying that he's expecting Orgeron to get a raise considering what he's paid vs other SEC coaches.

What I say to that is plainly no. Why? Because LSU needs to use the common idea of demand here.

Is there a demand for Orgeron right now? No. It's rather simple.

Literally, the entire point of hiring O was to SAVE MONEY ON A HEAD COACH and spend that on Assistant coaches to "let them coach," and that this would be a successful model.

As soon as you start to over-value O's effect on the product on the field, and have less money to throw at an eventual OC and the eventual Aranda replacement, LSU will crumble. And crumble fast. O should not want a raise because it goes against his binder and "hiring the best coaches."

Giving O a raise would be a disaster. Absolutely. It would be 100% against the only argument to hire O in the first place.

-Finish the 2018 season with a win

-Finish out the 2019 recruiting class strong.

-A stacked 2019 roster will be ranked Top 10. Prove you can seriously compete for the SECC and a playoff spot with that team.

-Show dramatic improvement on the offensive side. Even a top 50 offense would be a big jump.

Do these things and a raise at the end of 2019 should be considered. At this point he's proven he isn't going to wreck the program and can produce an above average team. That's not why he was hired. Year 3 (2019) is the make or break season.

Doesn't really matter what y'all think. Y'all aren't making the decisions.

A competent coach would have gone 11-1 with that talent
I'm not even on the O-Train, but you can't tell me we should have been expecting to beat Georgia? Because our coach was merely competent? And expecting to be 11-1 because of the same?

Does O deserve an extension and raise? Probably not due to the circumstances, but not because he hasn't shown promise and marked improvement in many areas.

After a bowl win, LSU will be preseason top 5. Getting a raise and extension.

A new strength coach is something that should be at least considered. I’ve been saying this for years. It’s in consistent. Down the stretch in November, the guys get a little sluggish. There’s no reason this Arkansas team should have hung around like they did. There’s no reason LSU shouldn’t have won the a&m game in regulation. They could have put it away but failed. Teams like Florida and A&M seemed to match the toughness. That goes on the strength and conditioning IMO.

LSU will not be top 5 going into next season. They are losing significant pieces and unless they make a splash hire and change several coaches, the following teams will be ahead of them:

Bama
Clemson
Texas
Georgia
Notre Dame
Florida
Oklahoma
Michigan

LSU’s defense will take a step back next season. Players like Greedy and White are not going to get fully replaced. LSU could lose a few on the DL, Tracy is gone, and LSU will be running the same offense.

LSU will likely be top 10 of top 15 team but as of now, other teams are going to improve next season too in Florida and A&M. Texas will be a hard game especially in Austin and LSU could easily be 8-4 next year without many true upsets.

He deserves a raise. He works hard and recruits well and is quite simply a great coach. A championship will be won within 2 years. We just need to be patient.

One of the only good arguments for hiring O was that he was cheap so we could go all out on coordinators. Instead we have Grandpa Ensminger running the offense and now people think O deserves a raise for 9-3 when we fired Miles for the same results? Yeah frick off with that bullshite.

Orgeron wasn't hired with patience. This wasn't a rebuilding effort. He knows that; you should too.

Why don't Alleva and Orgeron address the player stipends and raise the amount the player receives to catch the amount Bama and Texas A&M pay their players. If you don't think this effects recruiting, the simplest way is to just show disadvantaged kids who haven't had money growing up that you will be paid more than everyone else in the country coming here.

Wait that will only happen when Orgeron cares about LSU and the programs success more than lining his and his buddies pockets.

Gotta love Louisiana politics

On a side note, I believe that LSU underachieved (My expectations will always be 11-1 and CFB playoff this is LSU after all, give one loss due to Saban being around still)and that we should not extend contracts like other programs for just getting to 9-3 when we were projected 6-6. That's how you set yourself up with massive buyouts like our friendly Tigers in Auburn

Edit: I will like to say I do like the direction of the program though actually, I am not a cheeriO but Ed has slowly started to plug and fix our programs issues. OL looks like a MASSIVE strength for years to come and hopefully we becoming maulers up front like Bama. We signed the best WR duo last year, and are signing maybe one of the best RB duos ever along with maybe flipping the #7 WR in the nation (Pickens). Peter Parrish and Max Johnson provide QB stability for the future with Burrow for another year, then Brennan and Parrish fighting for the starting job while Max Johnson possibly redshirt and understudies before taking over our program. The only gripe I have with O is his terrible recruitment of the DL and DL depth. This was suppose to be his best asset at his position but it only seems like we continue to go backwards here. We need the dominate line and linemen we had when were competing with Bama. The lack of QB pressure and run defense this year has caused our D to suffer. Look at the Saints, run defense has to be our top priority. We are freaking DBU, put those guys in man to man with bumps close to the line with safeties providing over the top help. Lastly, Orgeron has to do what he stated at his introduction as coach and go hire the best position coaches. One glance at our assistants and you realize we are a laughing stock. I like Raymond (obviously), Cregg (He did the best he could have this year, next year will tell if he's worth the money since we will have depth, talent, and most importantly experience), Busch (Loved the idea of hiring a safeties coach to help Raymond, DBU is here to stay). Meatball, Joseph, Robinson, and Sullivan need to leave and put
E back at TE coach.

With all things being considered, we still are ranked #4 for this year (with a LS and kicker) and have 5 more spots to plug needs. One side note is that the #1 and #2 teams are Bama and A&M, with Georgia coming in at #3.

Bit of a rant early this morning but it's finals week and I'm running on adderall, red bull, and coffee currently.

As always

So the only reason for a raise is demand for an employee? If you are given a goal as a salesman to make 1.5 mil for the year and you made 2 mil, do you deserve a raise? Or only if another company wants you?
