I'm guessing CLK is telling us what he knows and not what he thinks. My .02

I would be fine with Clark or Longstreet. It’s obvious that he’s worked his arse of to get back into playing shape, but the timing is just not there. 3 INT & 5 sacks against a Sunbelt team is definitely concerning

Defense will carry the team for now. Survive the next two games then you get all of October to figure it out before the huge stretch in November.

If they don’t have the offense figured out by the first Saturday of November, we are screwed.

He just needs to settle down, anticipate and get better timing going with the receivers. It’s been 2 games and they are trying to figure out their timing and who the actual 1s are at WR. That being said; he isn’t like Jayden his first year with a 1 read and run; or Nuts; with a multiple read sack(which had more to do with him he offense than Nuss)

He's less polished than I expected. Yes, his mobility is exceptional (like, insanely exceptional), but too quick to pull it down and run.

Receiver separation needs to get better too.

The concern may be overstated but it is definitely a real concern about his accuracy and not being able to stretch the field.

He's got to get better at being more decisive. He hesitates even when a receiver is open or when the receiver has leverage. He did this at ASU as well. As they say, QB's have to "throw the receiver open." Maybe it's just a timing issue with new receivers.

The dude can make plays with his feet obviously and need that if the running game doesn't improve. Scheme or no scheme, it sucked vs Tech. Clemson may turn out to be fools gold as well.

He is going to take time. JB was worse his first year at LSU, but people don't remember that year. He didn't really come on until the end of his first year. Sam is ahead of that. Just needs to protect the ball in tight games and LSU offense will be fine. He will have some turnovers, but when you putting up 40 and 50 points with our D, we gonna win a lot more than we lose.

Yes, he needs to push the ball downfield and has a tendency (so far) to take off after his first couple reads.

This is a huge deal.

I also think that when you are as fast and athletic as he is, wanting to take off like that is normal. It can also be coached

He’s been practicing with the team for how long? Do you think he can get it together in a week? (The answer is no)

He is also coming off a nasty injury and not playing for an extended period of time

Don’t have time. LSU plays Ole Miss this weekend.

His PFF score was very high

quote:

Sam Leavitt threw three interceptions against Louisiana Tech—but PFF still graded him as LSU’s best offensive player. We break down the surprising numbers, why Stacey Gage has passed Harlem Berry in the RB rotation, concerns along LSU’s offensive line and the dominant grades from T.J. Dottery and Whit Weeks.

Even the interception against Clemson was a terrible throw. Sure, it should've been caught, but the throw was bad. I believe he only had 59% completion percentage against Clemson.

I watched a whole bunch of NFL football on Sunday and there were dudes making $50m a year that still had a bunch of imperfect ball placement and decisions. Missing a throw by 12” doesn’t change the fact that the int was 100% on the wr.

I agree with other people that his timing is off with the receivers and it’s causing issues, but against Tech specifically, he forced way too many plays and was trying to do too much. He was trying to score on every play and that just ends in disaster. He has to learn to live for another down and that will cut down on mistakes.

On the pick 6: wr no 6 (Jackson) was pushed and was stumbling right before the ball gets to him….That’s why it looks forced….

Overall, Sam will get better with more reps and practice with his Wrs…..

The o line needs to clean up their mistakes….

AAAAHHHH first year starter in the big bad SEC after a very bad foot injury not playing for a year now on a much much bigger stage with a new team with a new coaching staff. Joe Burrow's first year at LSU was not spectacular either. Despit his errors Sam has done great under these conditions. I trust Kiffin and Weiss to develop Sam. Besides we have Clark who looks to me could be a starter if needed.

Will be interesting to see how Clemson and La Tech's season goes. Some here are acting like these two are really bad teams like a Western Kentucky or Northwestern State. I think both are better than we think they are.

I hope Lane laid down the law to the SEC regarding that BLATANT late hit on Leavitt last week. Ref was looking strait at it. OM will be head hunting as will our defense.

I think I expected better improvement than what we saw Saturday. LA tech was pushing us around and firing off the ball the first half. That is of real concern.

The lack of timing, which is highly likely due to a lack of reps together, isn’t being stated enough. None of these dudes had ever played together in a game until 10 days ago.

Of course it is overstated, this board wanted to play Nussmeier over Jayden Daniels and Myles Brennan over Joe Burrow. The backup QB is always irrationally the best player on the roster.

Just let the offense take shape. If it looks wonky after 5-6 games, then you can start talking about making changes.

That is almost impossible to do. This is just how he plays. You are going to have to take the good with the bad.

No, throwing it to the other team is a little concerning.

Oh I get others can be to blame, but when you lead the NCAA in int, you aren’t the only QB facing the challenge if missed assignments or poor execution by teammates

He was inconsistent throwing the ball vs. Clemson too. I agree, making a QB change now would be drastic. But I could have understood it in the game on Saturday. Three straight drives ended with INTs. Two in the redzone. When that happens a coach has to at least ask himself if something is wrong with the QB such as not seeing things, having the yips, hurt, etc. Three straight drives with INTs is not common.

That said, he's your guy Saturday and you hope the time on task, with maybe some adjustments, improves the consistency in the passing game. Namely because his running ability makes it tough to a defense to completely shut him down.

Agree but this is where an experienced coaching unit can help.
Play calls to protect him from himself.
Someone that has a feel for him.
I think Gameday coaching also to keep him in the right mindset.
Keep him level.
