His issue is 2 major things
-accuracy is off because of timing and limited practice with his WRs
-locks-on to his intended target making for easy INTs
These 2 things are an issue that can be fixed. The second one takes more time. The first should get better as the season goes on. He's way more comfortable outside the pocket throwing which is reinforced by his stats last year saying he was one of the higher graded QBs under pressure. In LT game he was under pressure, flushed, got hit, and threw a deep ball to Wilson. That's the type of plays he's actually comfortable with at ASU. He will get better as the season goes on. The question is how fast the light will come on and how many games will it cost us?
LT used double spies on him at times. Ole Miss is going to spy him and take his legs away until he proves he can throw it down the field.

I’m not sure what your point is. You say the concerns are overstated but you are also admitting there are problems that haven’t been fixed. Most people aren’t saying that he can’t improve, but until we see it, the concerns are valid.

I will always be concerned until I see him have success slinging the football consistently. He doesn't seem to have chemistry with any of his wide receivers. Seems to have chemistry with Trey'dez, but we'll need more than that.

I’m just concerned he has more interceptions than passing TD’s, has had 6 balls batted down, hasn’t seemed in sync with WR’s in deep balls, and overthrew our 6’7” TE in the red zone.
I know he can clean that up. We need him to be accurate.

I just want him to plant his feet a little more and throw it to the correct side of the receiver when it's downfield, deep

Leavitt is ranked #2 in SEC in passing yds and is coming off an injury and hasn't really played competitive healthy ball for over a year. I think he will improve as the season goes on and he gets more comfortable with the fast paced Kiffen system considering he didn't even participate in spring ball.

Agreed. With the #1 ranked defense, he doesn't need to be elite, doesn't need to be Joe Burrow. The 2nd interception was not his fault. If the pick play is executed correctly, that ball was exactly where it needed to be. 1st and 3rd interceptions were his fault, but give it time, he'll settle in as a passer. If you're capable of hanging 50 points a game, and your defense keeps playing lights out, and interception here and there isn't the end of the world.

3 ints is not overstated. It's pretty bad. Nuss always had 1 or 2, but it is hard to come back from 3 on a ranked team

One thing I refuse to worry about under Kiffin and Weiss Jr is QB play.
Would not be surprised one bit if Leavitt comes out firing on all cylinders against Ole Miss next week.

Agree, the dude can definitely take off and tuck and run it. Not taking anything away from him on that. But, Saturday night he had many opportunities to run out of the pocket, then just set his feet and throw the pass down field, there were open receivers everywhere, and then he still took the opportunity to run- sometimes for good sometimes not so much.

I think the concerns are valid. He really needs to work on his timing and decision making when it comes to passing. I fear he will struggle in a hostile environment like this weekend and hope things don't devolve into him forcing runs after his first/second reads

Sam is in good hands. His threat to run is a massive game changer if used properly. Also expect some dirty play by Ole Miss probably trying to make him pay extra for not sliding or going out of bounds
