I think Aranda would suffer the same problems he did in 2019. He really struggled to adjust to our offense scoring so frequently and so quickly. He made adjustments and they were much improved by the end of the season, but I do worry that'd be an issue under Kiffin.
This isn’t really what happened. Like Saban, Aranda runs a very complex defense that takes most of the year for most of the players to figure out. It’s why it becomes elite at the end of the year. People forget we faced some really good offenses in the playoffs and mostly shut them down. I’ll take that every day of the week, especially with an expanded playoff.

I cant imagine O and Aranda parted on worse terms than O and LSU

Chris Kiffin is ALREADY a DC at LSU. My bet is that no one will be considered except Chris Kiffin.

Shot in the dark, but Kelvin Sheppard???
Yes he’s in NFL, but SEC may pay better.

The last time we re-hired a former NC-winning DC at LSU… it didn’t work out too well.

Would not surprise me.

There is so much wrong with this statement.
Aranda himself said after the Texas game he had to rethink how he ran the entire defense because of how quick the offense was. They eventually got it together but the defense was a real concern early that season.
I'm not saying he'd be a disaster, I think he'd get there but even he admitted they struggled to start 2019 until he changed what they were doing. I'd still take him back though.

Son of Hammond, Pete Golding?
You laugh…. But if he gets fired in 2-3 years from Ole Miss I guarantee Lane would be calling if we had a need

Arandas defense could contain a running qb pretty well. His 3-4 was made to cover sideline to sideline and keep everything in front, It was more bend don’t break from what I remember. It worked in 2019 for the most part as we had a lead most of the time.
I thought it was a good defense that let the big boys eat up blocks, brought pressure with the OLBs and let the DBs play the field. It definitely wasn’t the worst defenses we fielded.

Kelvin Sheppard would be nice to interview if he wanted back into college as he works toward HC status but I highly doubt it ever happens.

Ryan Clark is looking for work.

He had to adjust as the season went on due to some depth issues especially at the 2’s. Once he had his full compliment, you saw what he did at the end of the season and through the playoffs. TAMU wasn’t a bad team and UGA was pretty good. They throttled them. If not for 2 busted plays at the end, he throttles Bama by 20 points. Stingley was distracted twice.
Again, he didn’t have Delpit healthy for a long stretch of that season. He was finally fully healthy around the SEC championship game.
You saw what a difference maker he could be.
Lawrence and Clemson was not a bad football team. Except for sign stealing, it would have been the same result as it was versus OU and they still held them to 25.
That defense was NASTY from TAMU on once they played in money games.
Don’t think he wouldn’t kill it if he comes in with that experience versus uptempo offenses especially since he would practice daily against a Kiffin offense?
He is a smart dude and IMO if paired with Kiffin would be deadly.

School has to pay baker’s buyout if I’m not mistaken
He passed on Memphis and Tulane so I would assume he’d only leave for an SEC type gig
