Actually need to tackle Young when the chance to get in the backfield presents itself. Can't let him slip out & make big plays like Bo Nix did last season against us.

Young loves to get outside of the pocket and toy with defenders until he finds someone. I think you use Perkins like we did against Richardson in the last drive against Florida.

Young is short. If you can bottle him up he might be less effective. Who knows at this point.

I am just as worried about Gibbs.

We won't stop him. We can only slow him down. We're gonna have to win a shootout, try to make Bama one dimensional, and pray for turnovers and incompletions.

Only way we win is if our secondary plays out of their mind

I don't really think they need to play out of their mind to win because I don't see the WR talent that Bama has had the last 5 years. They still are talented and Young is awesome at QB, but LSU's DBs have been solid this other than a few spots here and there.

I think we need our D-line and LBs to get pressure on Young and to make great open field tackles on Gibbs.

Almost every team gets to Bryce Young. It’s what you do when you get to him that matters. Almost everyone grabs air and watches him scoot away to another pocket, where he throws a dart. I think the key is to break down when you think you have him. He is a master at pretending not to see the rusher, then spinning away.

Coach Chavis pretty much laid the ground work on how to contain a QB like Bryce Young when LSU beat TAM when Johnny Manziel was (almost) unstoppable.

If we played Tenn again right now, it wouldn't look like the Tenn game a couple of weeks ago. Not saying we win necessarily but it would be a game.

Without special teams explosions, and adding in how JD is playing/throwing recently, that Tennessee game is probably still a L, BUT it's a lot closer. If we're trading blows with bama, I'm good with it.

I’ll say this, House has two weeks to figure out how to get Perkins and Ojulari on the field every play. Make it happen.

Bama’s offense is not scary. This is the weakest wr corps they’ve had in years. Even with our hot and cold secondary we should be able to man them up across the board especially with major burns coming back. Gibbs is the biggest threat in terms of their offensive weapons but outside of that their offense is not scary by any means

You blitz 4
Heavy on the DE split wide… run them uphill and make BY step up and either go left or right… that’s where 40 sits and waits and attacks at break neck speed…

That leaves 6 to cover 5…….And you hope that the initial push and forced movement forward in the pocket results in a sack or rushed throw….

To actually tackle Young, you have to run at his back pocket, or just behind him and NOT 100% directly at him. A QB usually cannot escape directly forward. BUT, for some reason, most defensive players run directly at the QB, the QB makes a fake half step forward and then the defensive player misses him by a quarter mile when he pivots and goes back around him. I assume solving this is not taught any longer, cause QBs escape throughout all leagues this way. I think the defensive coaches call it "Magic" when a QB fakes a step forward and then escapes a rush. That's why you hear def coordinators tell players, "well, you couldn't get him, he used magic, so no worries," all the time. Easily solvable and very frustrating.
