Would be different if he was making top 20 DC money but this Guy is making top 3 DC money and would you say he is earning it? That is a BIG NO! Padding the stats against lessor teams is the easy part. When LSU needed a stop especially on the Road in the last 3 to 4 years under Baker how has he done? Yeah top DC money

Not worth what he’s getting paid but I think our defense can keep us in the game. No, we are not the best but they are keeping us in the game to give our offense a chance

That's because for the second straight loss he and his defense were put in a position where a critical 4th quarter stop likely wins the game and failed to deliver it. Largely because it appeared he moved away from the approach that was getting results in the 3rd quarter.
Versus Ole Miss LSU's defense was torched in the 1st half. In the 3rd quarter the approach becomes much more aggressive and shuts out Ole Miss in that quarter. That allowed LSU's offense the opportunity to come to life and tie the game. Midway through the 4th it a 24-24 game and LSU's offense was rolling, having gone TD, TD, short FG in its prior 3 possessions. The feeling at that point was that one more defense stop was all that was necessary to allow LSU's offense to take the lead. Baker could not deliver.
Versus Kentucky it was a similar story. UK moved the ball well on LSU in the first half en route to a HT lead. In the 3rd quarter LSU blanks UK. Then, with LSU leading, Kiffin turns the game over to Baker and the defense to get a final stop to win the game. They can't. The game goes to OT. LSU scores first, again putting the defense in a position to close out the game. They can't...again. Finally, the defense gets one last chance to close out the win on a do or die 2 point conversion. Not only does the defense fail to get a stop again, they leave the middle of the field so wide open that no one touches the QB on his way into the endzone to win the game.
Are the two losses ALL Baker's fault? Of course not. But fans no longer trust him and his defense to get a critical late stop to secure a win because he simply has not be able to do it.

Blake has done nothing of worth since he's been here. We still can't handle a running QB who is semi competent. We do fricking fim arse formations that do nothing but give them ten yards. We still do that God awful prevent drop 8 rush 3 which never fricking works. Dude is not worth what LSU is spying him at all.

Hes not going to have any HC offers. That ship has sailed

I still like BB but the ceiling of what I thought he could be has definitely come down. I thought that he was just lacking a pass rush the last few seasons but LK gave him an open checkbook to correct that.
He straight got outcoached vs UK. They knew his tendencies, went after them and he made no adjustments. He’s a great DC but not one of the top in the country

I think he is overrated and waaaay overpaid. The guy really has a hard time stopping elusive, healthy, running QBs. Reed destroyed us in 2023 and 2024 and Milroe just obliterated our defense at home in 2024.
I do wonder at times about what he sees that the rest of us don't. The defense called on 3rd down at the end of regulation was mind blowing. Even though they were going to go for it on 4th with so little time, you stop them there it is really tough. No, we run some goofy defensive Power-I that looks like the dumbest alignment in the world . And the play on the 2 pt conversion, was just ridiculous.
Obviously I want him to work it out but I'm only "cautiously optimistic."

He's lost his QB for the defense due to injury.
No disrespect to Weeks as far as talent, but he is injury prone. You almost have to plan for his injury. That’s why bringing in Dottery helped.

LSU has the NUMBER 1 defense in the SEC ytd. WTF are we even talking about.
The LSU defense is NOT why we are losing road games. It's LSU turnovers, special teams and bad red zone trips on offense.

How’s that defense performed against the 2 teams it’s played that are currently ranked?

Fan base turned because of a shitey product. That is all

I don't think he needs to be fired but he needs a bitch slap in the back of the head to get his mind right again.

I’m still a Baker Fan. It wasn’t his best game, but officiating was awful and he’s managing through injuries.
The punt return isn’t acceptable and not sealing the game or at least going for it on 4th and two feet is what lost it.

I know right because giving up on 2 touchdowns the whole game(no touchdown in the second half making excellent adjustments)in regulation is terrible. Yeah the defense made some crucial mistakes in OT but the offense was terrible especially in the second half. Blame that shite on Weis Jr. Wtf is wrong with you people. We played a good team and our offense failed. We needed trick plays to score. Dude has like 8 new players on starting on defense this year. Wtf
Offense lost the game
Special teams lost the game
Same bs against piss....

Just ask when was the last time his defense got a stop in a critical situation to preserve a win or prevent a score before the half?
