Has there ever been such a universal flip on a coordinator?

Even though we had identified his weaknesses with stopping mobile QBs last year, the fan base was almost unanimously excited to have him back this year. The Ole Miss loss wasnt put at his feet as Sam Leavitt turned the ball over and made questionable decisions in key moments. Additionally, we held chambliss to 14 rushing yards this year as compared to 71 last year. Fast forward to Sunday morning and the whole fan base is ready for him to be fired. Im not necessarily in disagreement, its just a funny observation. We are one fickle arse fanbase.

I was hoping he’d take the Tulane job .
Definitely not worth what he’s getting paid

He’s getting paid a ton of money, like way more than anyone besides Matt Patricia and Bryant Haines and he’s not nearly at their level.

He was paid to stabilize one side of the ball until the offense is rebuilt. I fully expect Kiffin to cut ties with him after next season. He probably won’t fight to keep him if he’s looking for a head coaching job after this season.

I don't think this is true. Just maybe not as enamored with him as we used to be.

What do you expect? Last weekend he had, at minimum, two of the worst play calls I’ve ever seen.

We’ve come out flat with bad game plans in the first half of both road games.

He’s never delivered a complete season as a DC. The stats against sisters of the poor were amazing, but you can only choke so many times before it becomes a pattern.

His greatest achievement is what? Fielding a top 25 defense at Missouri?

If he finishes strong, he buys himself more rope. Personally I think the guy brings in good players & is otherwise a fraud.

I personally don't get the hate. He's done some really good things and the numbers do not lie. He's lost his QB for the defense due to injury. What is a reasonable person supposed to think? Fire him because of things that he can't control?

His likability is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Baker always comes off as extremely likable and it seems as though players like playing for him as well.

It’s given him a much longer leash. That, and the fact that he does seem to have a good scheme every once in awhile.

Crowton was pretty well liked in 2007.

Then Lee threw a bunch of picks and the “Les Miles offense” was born

I still like him but he needs to learn to grasp the magnitude of these big sec match ups. Teams are coming out trying to punch you in the mouth early, you can’t come out playing soft non aggressive zone defense every time you play an offense with a pulse.

I've seen many, many a universal flip on coordinators, sometimes multiple times in the same season.

Gary Crowton may be the best example and most extreme. Folks went from calling him the Wizard in 2007 to calling him every name in the book in 2008!!

So much so that Les forever changed his philosophy in regard to allowing OC's any autonomy and pretty much took over the offense from then on.

From what I’ve noticed

Both sides of the ball are trying to not put the other in a bad situation, where the other side has to dominate to win…so called, ”complimentary football”.

Problem with that is both sides/styles like to play with their hair on fire, always applying pressure. Thats why we saw soft coverage in OM game during first half. Then baker going with soft coverage in Kentucky or Kiffin not being as aggressive that we’ve seen n the past.

I don’t think we’re gonna see that type of game planning going forward.

Meh. He called a bad game. The offense had multiple chances to win both games we lost.

The defense has done more to hold up the offense than the reverse to this point, IMHO, although, again Baker called a bad game @Kentucky.
