re: Has anyone ever actually explained what the “fit” is here that Kelly seems to miss?

This board is just all over
Kelly is too much of an a-hole in his pressers and on the sidelines
MM sucks because he’s too soft and never shows much emotion during games
The lesson ? No one gives a shite about any of this if you win.
People here also don’t seem to understand that parity is back in this league and LSU doesn’t have the this mass talent advantage over everyone, so losing on the road is going to happen.
I’m more annoyed that we really lack talent on offense right now and he’s been completely unable to build an above average OL in 4 seasons. There’s a disconnect somewhere that’s either on your evals or scheme but we’re going to waste another season of having to fix it after the fact, when this one was kind of obvious.

Not that difficult to understand
Most obvious- he is not a championship winning coach, and we are a championship winning program.
His teams are underprepared, and worse, they aren’t tough or well conditioned.
He is not from this area, and not affiliated with SEC coaching trees. No roots for recruiting or the league.
He doesn’t have any funny or endearing qualities that could offset the above. In fact, he’s an a-hole to the media and fans.

His teams at ND were widely regarded as not being able to consistently compete with the upper tier of SEC or Big 10 teams.
So far at LSU, that is still the case.

I would also say calling the fans spoiled and entitled for being concerned about a bad offense is not a good look.

The fit is about being a small school coach. Cincy, ND, Cent Mich Dv2 schools. This is SEC big flagship turf, not small school.

His ND teams were the opposite of this
Running the ball does not mean "physical." The finesse running style is more RPO/zone style running. Which has been the main implementation under Kelly.
Power, counter, and dives are the "physical" running schemes. Kelly has developed good offensive lineman and tight ends. Some of them being physical but his scheme was more finesse. Especially later in ND and early years here. He has wanted to adapt to be a more physical running team but that was not his ND team especially towards the back end of his tenure. Zone blocking which is primarily what he has used is finesse not physical.

people said les miles didn't fit when he was hired, I remember that. Which is funny considering that Saban is from WV and coached only northern teams until that point.
Winning is the only "fit" that matters, but I think Kelly is also just unlikable, that seems to be a pretty constant issue.
I have plenty Irish American family in Chicago and they love ND, but they didnt even like BK when he was taking them to title games. Didnt like him personally, they liked the winning.

A segment of the LSU population has always hated and bitched about the LSU coach since Bernie Moore. My uncle hated Cholly Mac and was huge in the "Help Mac Pack!" group in the 70's. I know you youngsters don't believe this, but LSU fans even griped about Saban A LOT!! Even though he brought us to the promised land for the first time in over 40 years. There is nothing and will always be nothing that will make the BK haters like him, even winning a natty.

What should he do to accomplish this?
Literally anything.
Giving 1 million dollars of his own money to NIL for recruiting doesn't count as anything?

I guess its the same as Orgeron. He is not one of us.

That has much more to do with him wanting to win a championship this year than it does anything to do with the fans. Sure it was a really nice gesture, but let's not act like it's some sort of selfless, altruistic act.

We lost 2 years and a golden opportunity to play for a championship in 2023, precisely because Kelly wasn’t a fit here.
Had Kelly been a fit, he would have understood the importance of how to recruit to LSU when hired. He would have understood he needed to retain Corey Raymond and Blake Baker when hired. He brought in asst coaches who were not a fit at all.
The fact that he did not fit this program, cost this program a championship run in 2023 & 2 years of recruiting.

I finally understood the "fit" thing in his post game interview after Florida. CBK: "What do you want us to do, beat Florida 70 to nothing?"
YES!! with 5 turnovers.....If you can, YES!! lol
I'm not saying it should be the mentality, but it is. That 'screw you' mentality is LSU (and honestly SEC in general) football. In the SEC, just a win isn't satisfying.....you have to make a statement when you can. Every other SEC coach gets that. Are we happy with a win against Florida, sure.
But he would "fit in" more if that interview would've been more along the lines of......."We beat a fisty Florida team, and that's good. But I can't say we are happy with the bottom line. With 5 interceptions, that game should not have been remotely close. So we have to get better and clean things up."

Go to any tailgate at any home game and talk to anyone. Brian Kelly is not like anyone there. The day he's not the LSU coach is the day he starts packing his shite to move back north. Doesn't mean he cant win or be successful here but he doesn't fit in here. He was hired to win football games, not fit in but when he struggles to do both, there's gonna be a problem.

Oh, which head coach brought in that amazing offense that gave us a chance to be elite? Who was going after jayden daniels before that season?

I keep reading various places including people on this site saying that Brian Kelly isn’t a “fit” here. But they never actually explain what it is.
Basically, they don't like him. Orgeron was proudly "one of us" until he wasn't winning.

This is such bullshite. I don't know where yall come up with this crap
zone schemes can be just as physical as gap. RPO teams can be just as physical as I formation teams that run fricking fb dives

We were a zone blocking team besides from 2019 - 2021 besides the 2020 Florida game when TDP went off

Is this a serious statement? So one of your requirements to be hired as the coach at LSU is they have something in common with the fans tailgating outside the stadium and you will give him a longer leash to win if that is the case?

Still waiting for for suggestions on what Kelly should've done or needs to do to fit in and ingrain himself with the fanbase
