For Berry, the partnership brings his story full circle. Before becoming an LSU running back, he sold World’s Finest Chocolate in middle school to help fund his football pursuits. “When I sold World’s Finest Chocolate in middle school to help pay for football, I never imagined I’d one day partner with the same brand as a college athlete,” Berry said. “At the time, I was just trying to do whatever I could to play the sport I love. Some kids came to my door asking to sell snickers for football team. They had jerseys on, which didn't match team or colors, and mama was on the street behind them and she looked disheveled and potentially intoxicated. I kindly chatted it up with them about what positions they play and for what team and it was clear that it was all made up. The mama caught on and yelled at them to move on to the next house before I even said no. Kids were being forced to do it, they had no joy. It was really sad.
This was when I lived in my first home near the hood.
Sure enough neighborhood facebook group had people saying this same lady brings kids all over to do this. Different stories and times of year, etc.

I'm pretty sure they put some sort of addictive substance in that candy. It's delicious. I can still remember the smell of those cardboard boxes of chocolate we had to sell like it was yesterday.
